I'm WAY ahead of the game, but I was a bit inspired by the Neal or Clark thread. What is one thing we could improve in the off-season that would prepare us to challenge for the Big 12 title next year?

I'm going to say: finishing around the rim. We leave a LOT of points on the floor around the rim.

I would say working with Spangler in an attempt to extend his offensive game some.

I think finishing close games on the road, which means no lapses of 3-4 minutes with no offensive flow. I think with this schedule next year with same situations, we would've won the WVU, LTU, and KSU games. would've had a shot at KU and ISU (remember we were down one with about 80 seconds left and buddy takes a running fade away at the baseline and misses)

I feel like Spangler not looking for outside shots is a by-product of the lack of rebounding if he's not the one under the basket. Hopefully next year we have another rebounding presence that will allow Ryan to step away from the basket more.

We definately don't do a very good job of finishing at the basket.

More mix between inside and outside scoring. We're too reliant on 3s to be a conference title type team, at least for now.

Continue to improve the defense, and defensive rebounding. In other words,

GETTING MORE STOPS.

With the returning group of experienced gym rats coming back next season, OU should be really good at the offensive end. When playing against the "big boys" like Kansas, the biggest improvement possibility is on the defensive end of the floor. Preventing teams like KU from getting offensive rebounds and 2nd chance baskets will greatly enhance OU's chances to win games against the upper echelon teams.

It would certainly help if a new post player can step in and help on the defensive end of the floor, giving Spangler and Bennett help. Of course Bennett and Spangler can work in the off-season to get stronger in this area.

Obviously, the perimeter defense also has room for improvement.

I think I'd take this a step further and just say closing halves. We've allowed games to get away from us by not closing halves well (KU, WVU, etc...).

More stops in our half court defense, better team defensive rebounding, finish better around the rim, and finish halves and close games better...
