Here is what we know now:

Sr.- Sharane

Jr.- Kornet, Kaylon

So.- Gioya, T'ona, Felisha, Shaya, Peyton, Maddie, & Derica

Fr.- LaNesia Williams, Gabbi Ortiz

I would think starters could be:

PG- Ortiz
SG- Peyton
SF- Maddie
PF- Sharane
C- Kaylon (unless Sherri signs another center)

For the most part, we are dealing with unknowns. We don't know what they will do at D-1. I have not seen one minute of Gioya, LaNeisa, T'Ona, or Felisha. From what I have seen, I could see every one of the other players developing into a starter. It depends on how they develop. I certainly would not discount Shaya or Kornet so easily.

We have plenty of PGs and SGs but we could use another 3. Obviously, we need bigs as well.

Who do you think they might beat out for a starting job?

Let's put it this way. I think Maddie is the only pretty sure starter.

I would absolutely LOVE it if someone can put Peyton and Sharane on the bench because that means we are going to be crazy good. I just don't think that's going to happen though.

The more experienced members of this team have not yet taken charge of their game. Although they have more experience, they may not be as talented as some of the younger players. It now becomes a matter of who steps up. Which five or six work to develop what they have. I think the starting five in a year will be those who want it enough to pay the price. We don't know who they are yet.

I think Maddie and Sharane are the only sure starters in the 2014-15 season.

I see no one currently on the roster or coming along that is going to beat them out and they will be solid, experienced veterans by then. Just can't see it any other way.

I cannot imagine Ortiz not starting unless she gets injured. I actually like her potential more than Sims at Baylor. She does some things better than Sims right now.

It's entirely possible our starting center for next year hasn't even visited OU yet.

We know that we lose Griffin, Aaryn, Morgan, and Portia at the end of this year. I believe Ortiz will be able to take over for Morgan without missing a beat. I am not sure who will replace Griffin but I'm sure Sherri will find someone to step in and I don't anticipate a drop-off at that position. At the PF position we have Sharane, Kellogg, Gibbs, Kaylon, etc who should take up the slack from losing Portia. So, Aaryn is the one who will leave a scoring hole in the lineup when she leaves. I doubt we have another scorer who can average the points that Aaryn provides.

However, I don't think we will suffer much because we will still have Sharane, Kornet, Maddie, Peyton, and perhaps some of the younger players to make up the loss of Aaryn's points. If each of those girls can add 3-4 points to their current production, we should be fine.

The following year, we only lose Sharane. She is a good player but I believe Sherri will be able to replace her without too much trouble.

If the above is somewhat correct, we should have a good run deep in the tourney for the next 2 years. A great PF and C would certainly enhance our chances of a final four in the not too distant future.

I would be very surprised if Peyton Little is not starting and scoring at a high rate in 2014-2015. Imagine a year of only practice, wanting to play in a game, when you're that good! Should work wonders for her.

I really hope we can get a big in 2015.

It will be interesting to see if Little will start, she got a lot of minutes at A&M, but she only knocked down 25 3's on 26% shooting for the season.

Minutes of lack of minutes may be the reason for her transfer. During a five game stretch during the middle of the conference season (Georgia-LSU) Peyton was averaging 17.4 minutes. She shot 48% (12-25) from the field and 40% (8-20) BTA.

During the conference NCAA tournaments she averaged only 8.4 minutes while shooting 28.5% (4-14) from the field and 0.0% (0-8) BTA. She may have lost her confidence in College Station playing for Gary Blair.

Perhaps she should have stayed at A&M and worked through her issues. Then again Alexia Standish was a top quality guard that played a bunch for A&M her freshman year and chose to get out of College Station. Who knows?
