No matter what he decides Joe C. must comment and he should do it sooner rather than later. If Capel is staying, Joe C needs to give him a vote of confidence or otherwise make it clear that Jeff Capel is being retained as OU's coach. If Joe is going to fire Capel he needs to make a decision. I think saying nothing will hurt OU's chances to land Guerrero and Jurick.

What any of us say is really irrellevant. We don't have a say in the decision. OU needs to make a decision and make it public.

I don't expect anything to happen until after the Big XII tournament but I hope a decision is made quickly.

The longer Joe refuses to comment the more likely he is going to move in another direction.

That is my guess.

I generally agree. But the only reason that he needs to publicly give a vote of confidence if he intends to keep Jeff is because of the various media types who have publicly speculated about Jeff being on the hot seat. Even though we think he should, I don't think that Joe C necessarily places much weight on what is being said on message boards. But with so many people, including other coaches, speculating about Jeff's future at OU, Joe C will have to make a public statement if he is going to keep him at OU. If he is going to make a change, of course, he will do it soon after OU's season is completely over.

From my perspective as a person who has started, owned and sold businesses. One thing that has served me well is to cut bait very fast and have little patience with poor results. But cutting people has not been what I cut bait on. It is the marketing plan or website design or copy writing that we quickly change.

I find that if you have a talented person you work with them through the ups and downs and everybody is better for it. IMO the thing you cut bait on with the OU basketball program are the McDonalds AA players from out of state. Because we have never signed a real McDonalds AA from out of state that did a darn thing for us. The once in a blue moon that a Blake Griffin or Wayman Tisdale comes along you pull out all the stops, but the out of state McDonalds AA we are able to get have warts. Bad warts. We can't land the real ones like Duke, UNC, Kansas, etc.

Just make a decision one way or the other!!Supporting Coach Capel or not.the longer it is prolonged the harder that Jeff or a new coach has in recruiting.I think Coach Capel gets another year..GO SOONERS!!!!!

I don't think Joe is the type of person to give someone a ringing endorsement, only to fire him the next week. So I guess I would tend to agree that he's looking to make a change.

He doesnt have to say a thing. Both parties understand whats at stake.

This is what I'm thinking. If he was going to keep him, you would think he would have come out and said, "We're still committed to Jeff Capel. Nothing has changed." End of story.

I definitely think the continued "No comment" shows things are still up in the air. I also don't think Joe C. is the type of AD to fire someone until the season is over (ie John Blake).

I don't think Joe has had any visions of firing him. Joe would rather take all next year trying to find someone with the hope of Jeff saving his job. Capel and his wife Kamika are really liked by Molly Boren. What Molly wants she gets.

I see the window for Joe C. announcing a change would be the first 2-3 days after the last game. Anything before or after that, and it's probably in support of Capel.

Heck of a note that OU would keep a basketball coach because the President's wife like the hoop coach's wife!!! Sad!!!!!!!

Unless Joe has something up his sleeve there is no way he is firing him this year IMO. Who in the world would want o come here with the team the way it is?

OU will be in the same situation at end next season, OU will finish near the bottom of the league again and have the same problems because OU doesn't have the talent to compete with top teams in the big 12.

A.) Someone without a job. (Billy Gillespie)

or

B.) Someone with a crappy job (Terry Evans)

or

C.) Someone who has been exiled from the profession (Kelvin Sampson)

D) A very good coach at a mid-major who is confident he can rebuild a once-proud program into a winner while collecting a $1million+ paycheck.

No way Boren would allow Billy G or Kelvin S to be the next coach at OU.
And evans isn't an upgrade IMO
