Ok Board let’s have some fun ...

don't take the bait. altman would be fantastic and the absolute best we could do.

Agreed. I just can’t see him leaving a cushy situation in Oregon for OU. Maybe not a home run for some but I’ll take an RBI triple any day.

1) I think we end up with Kellen Sampson. Been warming to the idea myself after balking initially and the fact that no one has been hired yet makes me think Joe C. is waiting for the tourney to end to interview him.

2) Eric Musselman. He brings the energy and I want some energy in our next hire.

I think we end up with McCaslund. He would be a safe and younger hire, but it wouldn't move the needle much for me (forward or backwards).

My "pie in the sky" coach(es) would be (in no particular order).....Wright, Underwood, or Tony Bennett.

1) McCasland or Mills. Both seem fairly logical.

2) Ideally, I would want Kelvin with Kellen as coach in waiting, along with Q and Hollis.

1) Kellen

2) Kellen

I've come full circle on this one. I think he's ready, and there are not a lot of young coach options out there that would consider OU a potential long term gig, maybe a dream job, and have been the top assistant on a Final Four team.

HC Quanas Ast. Hollis Ast. Former head coach Ast bagman

Kidding on bagman... kind of

If you had to pick one between Quanas or Kellen, who would you go with?

Q!

Eduardo Najera wants the job. And NBA guy said he has Carlos slim one of the worlds richest man backing him

That's a very interesting tidbit. Are you suggesting the money backing moves a needle?

Couldn't agree more.

+1

Plus he relies on recruiting much more than coaching ability IMO. And he has been a good recruiter but can he be at OU? I have my doubts whether he could get the guys he needs to run his offense or lack thereof.

He's 62 (which probably doesn't sway you). I misstated his age as 65 a day or two ago.

This claim that OU is a "boring" program sounds like the whining of a six-year-old. "Daddy, I'm bored! Can we go home?" Was beating three Top 10 programs in a single month and all the national hype that brought us boring? Was being ranked in the Top 10 boring? Is going to the tourney every freaking year "boring"?

I'm as disappointed as anyone that things fell apart in the final few regular season games, but it happens. All of them were close losses that could have gone either way.

Honestly, you're back in bot mode. Hyping Frank Haith, who certainly wouldn't be boring because we'd be on probation in short order. Give me a winning coach who runs a clean program every single time. That's the kind of boring I can get behind.

Sky... I know you don't like me, but come on man.. We aren't competitive in the league, we aren't making runs in the dance, several years we have barely made it by squeaking in... You know all that.. Treading water... Boring... Whatever you want to call it.

OU needs a shot in the arm. And some dude on his way to Del Boca Vista ain't it. And, many people on this forum agree with me on that. So let's not act like I am just trying to play the villain.

Agree 100%. The program is/was stale, it needs someone to invigorate recruiting and the fan base. Castiglione needs to find his Musselman.

Every coach has risk.

Altman is a safe choice, would deliver similar as Kruger without final fours. Not too high, not too low.

McCasland, mills, Golding all younger but with higher risks of failure. High risk, potential high reward.

Honestly, the more I think about it, kellen Sampson makes a lot of sense. He loves OU, has some good experience, coaching is in his blood, has a reputation as a very good recruiter, plus he loves OU and would be fully invested long term.

The thought of Eduardo najera as an assistant with financial backers (recruiting) would be very intriguing.

Keep compliance away from the program and tell them to keep their noses out. They can focus on the volleyball teams.

We need new energy. We need to be reinvigorated. Old and stale need not apply this time around. We’re in a much better position than where we were before hiring Lon.

If his hiring comes with a guaranteed new arena and practice facility expansion, Hire him immediately
