Oklahoma State having some issues

Any word on Olukemi? His status seems to be far from a sure thing.

Oklahoma State has a lot of talent, but the roster doesn't seem to be the right mix of talent.

Good/nice way to put it. Odd thing to say but...poor recruiting?

Ford seems able to bring in fantastic talent, but doesn't seem able to round out a class with specified needs. For instance Arent and Bennett may not be the most talented guys, but that would help OSU's front court a lot this season.

I was kind of surprised Ford didn't sign another JUCO big with Williams impending trial and Jurick's torn Achilles injury. Now with Williams out the start of the season and Olukemi's eligibility still in question this could turn into a larger issue for OSU even with the combined talents of Smart/Nash

It looks as though Murphy and Cobbins will start and Jurick will come off the bench. With Nash moving to the 4 occasionally.

Where the Williams injury hurts OSU is on perimeter defense. With Smart, Brown and Williams, the defense at the 1,2,3 was going to be really solid. Nash at the 3 does not play the same D that Williams does.

They always have issues. After all, they are sheepherders.

Ya know, Kelvin Sampson used to recruit positions and needs.

Always had a good mix of shooters, slashers, rebounders, defenders, etc. There werent many Sampson teams that didnt have really solid players to do the aforementioned tasks.

These young coaches need to learn how to recruit a team, and not just the best individual player. Jeff Capel and Travis Ford seem to be learning that the hard way.

The OSU staff feels really good about JP's chances of winning the appeal and getting another semester. He received some bad advice in high school and took some junior college classes his senior year. This was at a time when he was living in a car with his mother and 4 siblings. He was homeless throughout high school so good advice wasn't always there for him. There was a similar case last year with a player at Marshall and they granted him another year

I don't care about some guy at Marshall. JP has 1 semester right now. What do they if they don't get him?

He should, and will, get a waiver for a second semester.

If the story is accurate I agree. Why should anyone be penalized for taking college classes. Kids take AP classes all the time for dual credit, this should be no different poke or not.

Olukemi. What happens if they don't have him in the 2nd semester. Ford has already demonstrated and recruited to having Williams available. That fell through. What does he do if he has no JP? Play Smart at the 5 like he said he could on a Big 12 media day?

I see it both ways for OSU. They may have games were bg guys will kill them on the boards and scoring. But the small 4 man has worked before and create matchup problems for the other teams 4. Witht that said, the big athletic 4 is always the goal.

JP is a 3, sometimes a 4...the same position as Brian Williams and Lebryan Nash...OSU has to play him. He has one semester of eligibility before the appeal comes through, I would assume that clock starts when the season starts...

and Yes the eggs were in the Darrell Williams basket. Cobbins, Murphy and Jurick will have be the guys down low with Nash, JP, Williams and Soucek getting varied minutes there.

Sounds like Williams might be doubtful for the season, per John Helsley.

That's awful. Nice player. I assume he has a redshirt year?
