Oklahoman article on future Sooner C.J. Cole

That is pretty impressive. A 24 on the ACT along with being one of the best basketball players in the State of Oklahoma indicates to me this is a highly motivated and mature young man.

Correction. He scored a 34 on his ACT. :)

I believe C. J. has the potential to contribute to the team in time. He reminds me a little of Najera with his size and work ethic. Not saying he will ever be as good as Eduardo. Still, he is almost certain to be a good role model and an asset to the program through his smarts, great attitude and hard work.

While we all get hyped up about recruiting rankings and how early and often a player can contribute, you can't underestimate how important it is to have kids like this in your program. Even if his sole contribution to the program is playing hard in practice and graduating, this is a solid pick-up.

Found a recent interview and short highlight video that will give fans an even better look into the type of kid OU is bringing in as a student athlete.

The more I see and hear about C. J. Cole, the more convinced I become that he's a great get no matter how he turns out on the basketball court. The example he'll set through his work ethic alone will make him an asset to the program.

Im pretty smart, I have a great attitude, I will hustle, can OU recruit me to please!!

Kidding of course...

You may be worth a look if you're also 6' 7" 225 pounds of muscle. ;)

Seriously, C. J. has put up some impressive stats this season. But the one that jumps out to me is his 17.6 rebound average. Are you kidding me?! A 17plus rpg average is a lot of boards at any level!

That should tell us all we need to know about how hard this kid plays when he's on the floor. It helps to be bigger than most of the players he goes up against, of course. But rebounding is about wanting it more than anyone else, and going after every missed shot and loose ball as if your life depended on it.

I'm anxious to see this kid play. I have no idea if he will ever be a starter or a major contributor at any point of his career at OU. I do know that it's hard to go wrong when a young man like him wants to be a Sooner so much, he's willing to walk on to wear the uniform.

I don't know the competition he plays against or how much of a height advantage he has in 3A but I'll take it over the guy were recruiting in juco who's 6'9 and is averaging only 5 to 6 rebounds per game.

The is a quote from the article:

“Why stop when you know you can be better?

“If you just do what's required, you'll never reach your full potential.”

He sounds like a coach's dream player. That attitude is the difference between people who are good at what they do and people who are great at what they do. I look forward to watching CJ develop his game at OU.
