The thread from HoopScoop above explains how the Ole Miss coach came to be fired, along with 2 of his assistants, within 6 weeks of the season starting. One of the assistants was a former Texas player and OSU assistant coach.

Actually, he hasn't been fired; he's been placed on administrative leave, which usually includes full pay. Firing may or may not follow, depending upon what the internal investigation finds and the university does with those findings. I'm still in the dark about what actually happened and whether or not it involved the two junior college players declared ineligible.
