I'm all for remaining positive, and while I may not have a flawless record in that regard, I too strive to stay positive and upbeat when talking about our Sooners.

But sometimes one's loudly proclaimed "positivity" can be used a cudgel. That's the issue I have -- finger-pointing and calling out other posters because they don't live up one's personal standards of positivity and proclaiming them non-fans if they fall short.

Last season was brutal. That's a fact. Most of the fans here handled it pretty well, I think. A handful didn't. But merely taking a "positive" stance while pointing fingers at everyone who doesn't toe your line doesn't qualify as positive in my book.

Now, Sooner Traveler -- he's my kind of positive poster. Has no interest in calling anyone else out, just keeps cheering for his Sooners. That's the model I aspire to (and think I mostly achieve, with some missteps).

But even Traveler expressed some despair and disappointment here last season. Does that make him a bad fan? Hardly. He just wasn't wearing blinders.

Regarding negativity and sunshine.

I prefer to, whenever possible, limit negativity to the past when negatives have occurred. Last year sucked, and if you didn't notice that, you weren't paying attention. This year things are looking up, so far.

That being said, a few posters on here have posted information that they have acquired through reliable sources and have been roasted over it. The problem is that they were roasted not for the actual information they posted, but for what was perceived.

I'm simply telling you that there is good news about Cam and Calvin. Calvin's news will hopefully be out pretty soon. With these two players we have a chance to be a good team. That excites me. Apparently my attempt at humor failed. And I appreciate the singled out attack on me when I at no time singled out anyone in this thread. While I am not a regular poster I do regularly read these threads and keep up with goings on on this board. And as a regular vistor to this board it is frustrating to read what is intended to be a positive thread regarding the the hard work a student athlete has put in in order to be a part of the Sooner family when posters turn the thread into a negative argument that serves absolutely no purpose. I enjoy a good argument as much as the next guy, but when a Sooner fan wants to actively argue the negative side because others are being positive, that is completely counter productive. Negative facts are something we cannot do anything about, but negaitve specutlation is something we can control as far as our posting. I don't have anything against the participants in this board and I enjoy reading what everyon has to say but the negativity makes no sense to me. I'm not trying to be cool or trying to gain favor with anyone on the board. The only thing I want to contribute to this board is a positive attitude and support the student athletes, and share all things OU Hoops with everone on the board. If there is something wrong with that then I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you.
