OSU and Texas tonight

Texas got beat by UTA last night, 72-61. Longhorns were 3 for 23 from 3-point range. They are a mess right now.

UTA took Texas to overtime last year. Also, UTA is one of the pre-season favorites to win the Sun Belt......and they pretty much returned their entire team. This outcome shouldn't be that big of a surprise based upon Texas' youth and what happened last year.

He's the exception that proves the rule. I haven't missed any members of the orange clown posse that have been avoiding this board the past couple of years, but Mr. SweatyPalms has continued to contribute, and that suits me just fine.
 
Congrats to oswho for holding Rogers State under 90 points tonight, but why were they playing an exhibition at this late stage?

I like having Byron around. Unlike some Poke fans who have frequented this board over the years, he is a breath of fresh air with his sensible approach to every topic, and that includes an honest assessment of OSU's basketball program. As you correctly pointed out, he has also been here when things weren't going well with his favorite team. I can't say that about the other Poke fans. Their absence through the bad times has been all too obvious.
 
I agree about Byron! He's by far the best Poke poster of any board I've ever frequented.

Friend of a friend game

OU/OSU are taking on a couple of name opponents tomorrow. We will find out a lot about the teams.

I'm not even questioning the opponent (though I am questioning the 85 points allowed), but why was it an exhibition? And why was it scheduled nearly a month into the season?

Where are you seeing it was an exhibition game? Looks like OSU is counting it toward their record.

I'm about 95% sure it was ESPN.com -- that's where I most frequently check scores -- but they don't list the game as an exhibition now. Perhaps some ESPN web producer assumed it HAD to be an exhibition, only to have his mistaken assumption corrected later.
