OSU at Missouri

OSU at Missouri tonight looks pretty much a repeat of OU at Missouri. I remember on this board when Guerrero and Jurrick committed to OSU what deal is was that we lost out on them with the Capel firing. But they dont seem to be doing much good for OSU. OSU actually has played better basketball lately without Jurrick.

I knew Markel Brown was talented, but Brian Williams has been the biggest surprise on OSU for me this year.

With as bad as OSU is and as many inuries as they've had it's crazy to think that OSU was 6-6 and OU was 9-1 and they are about to catch us in overall record.

Final score looked much better than it really was for OSU. We put in our walkons with five minutes left and Paige hit 3-4 shots in a row to cut into a 30+ point lead.

The only edge OSU has on OU is size/athleticism on the perimeter (minus Page). OU has better point guard play, a better perimeter scorer in Pledger, and better inside play (I am a fan of Cobbins, though, despite his pretty mediocre production this year). Coaching is also a huge edge OU.

It is a shame OU and OSU can't form one good team this year. Paige, Pledger, Nash, Osby,and Fitz would make a nice lineup. The bench would have Grooms, Clark, Williams, Brown, Cobbins and jurrick.

No. Paige is a 3 point shooting black hole who can't shoot 3s. I'd concede on the other Aggies, but I will not concede on Page being a hypothetical starter for OU in this scenario.

Grooms, Brown, Nash, Osby, Fitzgerald, Pledger, Cobbins. Put those seven on the same team and you've got something. You could fill in the bench with existing OU/OSU players... but rarely let them see the floor.

Still in pretty desperate need of additional outside shooters, though.

OSU is 2 games ahead of OU in conference with only 5 games to go but OUs conf sch. was very front heavy whereas OSUs was heavier towards the back end so it will be interesting how it all shakes out. OSU was playing better but hopefully back to back games on the road against top 5 teams didnt break that. Theyre 1 game out of a top 6 seed and getting a bye in the big 12 tournament but Im not that optimistic.

According to realtimerpi.com OSU has the 14th toughest schedule in the country at the moment and OUs is 44th.

Fair enough. Brown was played at the 1 out of necessity. Most OSU fans are expecting Ford to bring in a JUCO or have Smart run point next season. Cesar isnt there yet to ne a starter and needs to learn something called defense.

I wish Cobbins had Fitzs shot, he might an all conference player. If only you could combine the two. Our post scoring is sub-par at best. Nash will be at his natural position next season at the 3. This season just needs to end.

Personally, I think he is one of the top 5 players on a combined team. He averages over 14 points per game and shoots just under 35% from 3 point range. He is a really good free throw shooter. He does not get enough assists but some of that could be due to his roll at OSU.

If you were to combine Pledger and Page, they would likely shoot above 40% from 3 point range. You have to realize another good three point shooter opens things up for the other shooter.

Now, other teams know he is the only outside threat and their main goal is to take him out of the game and he is constantly battling for open looks and even drawing multiple defenders at times. Just look at Self's interview after the KU game. He said priority #1 is taking Page out of the game.

Im sure SP has the same problem getting smothered due to lack of other options. You put those two at the 1 and 2 they would compliment each other immensly IMO. As far as the black hole comment I dont know what to say, guy has 262 made 3s for his career and made 62 as a freshman. Most of those 262 were made while being the only legit outside threat and a top objective to stop for opposing defenses for half of his career.

I heard Robert Allen on the radio today and when he was asked about his thoughts on the game he basically said he expected OSU to get beat pretty bad as repayment for "taking Mizzou behind the woodshed in Stillwater". :facepalm

Yes both teams are bad but OSUs strength of schedule is 14 and OUs is 44. There is a much larger disparity in KenPom. Point is OU would not have as many wins as they do with OSUs pre con schedule.

If they are equal in your eyes are you saying Ford improved as the season progressed and Krugers team has got significantly worse? Not that OSU has become anything worth writing home about but through the first 11 games of the season at 6-5 they looked like they would be lucky to win 2-3 conference games. They are playing better now than they were then.

I was on the Ford bandwagon after years 1 and 2 considering the mess Sean gave him but after this year and last it's time to S or get off the pot. Next year is do or die for TF. He has to do well and I am excited for next years squad especially if D-Will gets his bs dropped. We are ridiculously young except for Page and these guys will now have experience playing together.
