OSU has 4th ranked recruiting class???

Spin it however you like, but...77-75.

Ben Simmons played well & was the most talented player that night. Quaterman outplayed him on his own team & Buddy was the best player that night. OU was fortunate to win that game.

Quaterman had a lucky streak from 3, but other than that, Simmons impacted the game more in every aspect. He and Buddy were clearly the best two players on the floor, and perhaps in the entire country.

Agreed. If Simmons even had a mid range shot at the time he would’ve averaged 20+.

They will get to the tourney but I don’t see one player (Cunningham) taking them to the top of the conference.

Depends on how good he is .. it's not like OSU is void of talent around him either.

Take him away, so you think they would get close to making the tournament?

PG: Isaac Likekle/Rondel Walker (4 star)
SG: Chris Harris (4 star)/Avery Anderson (4 star)
SG: Ferron Flavors/Keylan Boone
PF: Kalib Boone (4 star)/Matthew Moncrieffe (4 star)
C: Yor Anei/Hidde Roessink

Depends on the development of Harris, Anderson, and Boone... but they could certainly be a solid team without Cade. They would just be solid though, but you add Cade Cunningham and that jumps into "very good".

They lost 4 of their top 6 players from last year. Other than maybe the Canadian guard no one they are bringing in is better than Waters & Mcgriff. They were also terrible last year.

I’ll say without Cunningham they would be just as bad, if not worse, than last year.

You are making a typical fan mistake... Assuming absolutely no growth or development from Harris, Anderson, Anei, Likekle, the flying dutchmen guy, Kaleb and Keylan Boone, etc.

All the real talent on that team was young. McGriff is a loss for sure.

You turn that around to the OU side and they lost Doolittle and JB, and many think this years team will get better because it assumes development from Kur, Harmon, Vic, etc.

Fans typically consider the development of the teams they like, and don't consider it at all for the teams they dont.

Who is saying OU will be better next year? And I don't feel this board, as a whole, has faith in the ability of this coaching staff to develop talent. Although I personally feel the assistant coaching staff has potentially headed in the right direction over the past year.

I’m assuming those players will improve & that the team would still be bad without Cunningham.

You say all the real talent was young? Then why couldn’t they get more minutes on a bad team?

On the other hand... I guess thats like discrediting the Mavericks because they wouldn't have been as good without Dirk Nowitizski... Or discrediting the Spurs because they wouldn't have been as good without Tim Duncan.

When you have a legit star, it tends to make everyone around that player better.

So the question is.... is Cade a legit star?

The question I asked was would OSU be a tourney team without Cunningham. You replied giving the roster and said they’d be solid. I then gave my opinion why they wouldn’t. Then you derail the conversation for some reason bringing up other teams in the NBA, just stay on the topic you gave an opinion.

Yes Cunningham is a legit star & will make osu a good team next year.

I didn't derail the convo, I answered your questions saying OSU would be solid without Cade Cunningham... the post about the NBA teams was to show the question was pointless though. That collection of players will have drastically different roles on a team with Cade than they would without. Without Cade, I still say they are solid, with Cade, he could elevate all their games to another level.

I was trying to show that its not just about plugging Cades stats into the team... its about how much better he makes everyone else.

But I agree with you, I think Cade is gonna be a legit star.

The question wasn’t pointless. You said osu wasn’t void of talent, I was just asking how talented you think they are. We disagree on how talented the other guys are, which is fine.

He’s right though. OSU has some talented players on the that roster. Last bedlam game showed OU doesn’t have anyone on the roster that can stop that one Boone twin and he’s gonna get better. I like OSU’s roster, but in three years I have no clue as to what system or style Boyton wants to run. This upcoming year comes down to Boyton. Watters and Dziagwa were Ford recruits, this is the first time he’s recruited everyone on that roster.

Every roster in the Big XII has some degree of Big XII talent. From a relative standpoint, though, that OSU roster was incredibly weak.
