OSU in the NCAA

What would you think about drawing OSU as a 12 or 13 seed? I realize you can debate whether or not OSU deserves to get into the tournament but that would be a very difficult first round game. The good news is OU does not have to worry about this because two Big XII teams will not be matched up that early. I wouldn't be afraid for OU to play OSU as a 5/12 but I would think it sucks to get the 12 seed that had its best player suspended for three games.

Sort of like OSU playing Oregon last year.

I bet Travis Ford is wishing hard for a play-in game against another 12 seed, so he can say he has won an NCAA Tournament game....

There is no way the NCAA will ever match up two teams from the same conference with a chance to play in the 2nd round. The only way to even play in the Sweet 16 would be if more than 8 teams were selected from a particular conference.

With that said, I'm always worried about playing OSU in the conference tournament because, simply put, they almost always beat us...at least over the past 20+ years.

If they even make the Dance, OSU might win a game or even two because they have three terrific players. However, their lack of an inside game and a good bench coach will trip them up.

It is a pretty small sample size, considering the amount of time and the quality of the two teams over the past 20-ish years.

OSU and OU have only played 4 times in the Big 8/12 tournaments since 1980! (OSU has won all four.)

Big 8
1995: OSU 74, OU 58

Big 12
1999: OSU 60, OU 57
2009: OSU 71, OU 70
2010: OSU 81, OU 67

The interesting thing is that in two of the four meetings (1999 and 2009), OU had swept the regular season series.

I think it's actually pretty amazing that we only played each other 4 times in the conference tournament over all of those years.

I would like a lot of Big 12 berths in the NCAA tournament for the sake of bragging rights and conference rivalry and perhaps to prove that we actually did survive the conference reallignment mess somewhat intact.

Other than that, I'm just interested in OU's bid, seed, opponent and all that jazz
