OSU is the most athletic team in the league

OSU was pretty bad when he took over and they have improved. I am fairly nuetral on Ford. I see some things he could have done better but I also see improvement so if I were his boss I would give him more time.

Disagree. Ford inherited a pretty legit roster his first season. And as time has progressed, his program has gotten worse with the more players he's brought in.

I think this is the year to truly determine Ford's worth. Right now all this talk about Ford being this "drastically better" coach than Capel is inconclusive. I agree that he's better, but so far the results do not warrant the opinion that he is immensely better, as some posters have implied.

I totally disagree with this. 1) Ford came into OSU with way more talent. Eaton, Anderson, Harris, Obi, Adams, Thomas and Moses were left for
Ford.
'Arguably' the best PG and SG to ever play at OSU and Obi was a solid player as well. He chose to run off Thomas and Adams just like he has chosen to run off every other big man he has brought to OSU which has constantly left OSU with SF's playing the PF position.

2) As for this being Ford's deepest squad...Its probably b/c he has 12 guys on the roster. He's got a bunch of guards but he doesn't have 1 solid post player. Is this team really going to be better w/o Penn, Pilgrim and Moses?

3) The longer Ford stays at OSU the better it is for OU b/c he's horrible. As for Capel running back to coach K with his tail between his legs...and if tail you mean a nice pay check and all of the 2012 and 2013 players he was recruiting for OU that are going to go to do Duke or elsewhere now then yeah.

Truth.

None of those players save for Anderson (who had a good/very good freshman season under S. Sutton) had done a single notable thing at OSU before Ford got there. Harris was a turnover, bad shot, machine. Eaton was essentially useless for the first two and three quarters season. Moses hardly played his year under Sean Sutton, and Obi was like Terrel Harris understudy in poor shot selection and turning the ball over.

Ibrahima Thomas sucked at OSU and sucked at Cinci. Martavius Adams averaged 11 and 7 in the Sun Belt, what do you think that translates to in the Big XII?

Guys like Harris, Eaton and Obi had two or three years under the previous regime, and none of this awesome talent was obvious, so who is to say Ford didn't "coach them up" versus how talented you guys think they are. Eaton is playing in Japan, Obi is out of basketball and Terrell Harris is bouncing around the D-League. It's not as if they were any more talented than a Taylor Griffin, Tony Crocker, Willie Warren trio.

I do agree with the sentiment that is time for Ford to put up or shut up, now that he has all his players and no more holes created by the 08 (or lack thereof) class and his darts at the board '09 class.

I don't know if Baylor is going to be elite. They have a lot of talent and depth. I think they are overhyped pre-season. They aren't very tough. But they are the most athletic team in the conference. No offense to OSU or other teams. Baylor is freakishly athletic. This BallisLife video relays that story better than words could. But I could see them struggling with rebounding. They all like to try for the monster block and that gets them out of position a lot. Plus I think they will be really hard to shoot a good percentage against due to their length, which creates more offensive rebounding opportunities.

Didnt Jackson win the dunk contest??

I think you took my agreement out of context. Of course the players had their flaws, and obviously Ford was an upgrade over Sutton. Nevertheless, Ford inherited more talent compared to what some continually to perceive on here. In fact, it was a better roster than what Ford has had as of late. And, in my opinion, was a better roster than what Capel initially had to work with (since this board loves the Capel/Ford comparisons).

All of these Capel and Ford comparisons make me happy that we have CLK!

yes- Jackson won the dunk contest. Deuce Bello threw down some amazing dunks but Jackson had the Nate Robinson/Spud Webb factor going for him. Little guys who can do more than the traditional dunk get upgraded.

IMO, Ford is about 100x better than Felton J. but that's only because I believe that Capel was about the worst D1 coach out there. Ford, to me, has taken what Eddie set up and whats-his-face mismanaged, and gone slightly downward with it. He still looks like a midmajor ball coach trying to play with the big boys.

You guys are right, though. This is put up or shut up year for him.

With the talent Baylor has had if they had a good xs and os coach, they might seriously be national title contenders. But with Drew they will just be a little better than middle of the pack in the conference.

Nice to get thebigOSU annual overhyped Oklahoma A&M prediction of unrealistic greatness out of the way.

Of course they will suck as usual and hillbilly ford will once again be the worst coach in the league.

Damn they couldn't even making it to thanksgiving. lol

thebigOSU wrong on loser aggy again.

I wouldn't sum up a season after one game against their first true opponent of the season. Lotta hoops left to be played.

What are you gonna say if OSU ends up having a better season than OU this year?...Again. I'm sure you'll crawl back into your hole of delusion.

Kruger is one of the best guys out there and he has shown it consistently and now has his best college program to recruit to. I think we'll be okay.

I don't think many here would be surprised. It's not like we expect a ton out of this team. Just progress.

Keep in mind, this was a thread about oSu being legitimate contenders for a B12 Championship. If and when you see a similar thread about OU, and OU proceeds to stink up the joint, I'd expect about the same reaction.

2 seasons ago that happened and we had an all out melt down here.

Let me guess. The Big ABD is caught in another snow storm and now is unable to respond.

Just joking. Just thought it was funny when he said that last year.

Good golly, Osu should. They are a lot more talented than OU this year.
I think we are just optimistic we have a coach that has been successful everywhere he has been and so far (yet very young in the season) OU has played hard, played actual defense and looked like a bunch of guys who may play at least up to if not way better than their potential.
Ford's teams haven't really showed that IMO.

I will not be surprised if they do. OU was picked at the bottom of the Big?
I'm just happy we have a coach that at least gives us a chance to improve. I never felt that way with Capel.
