OSU post game vs. The Big 12

Rumor on one of the OSU boards that Shaw showed up in Stillwater yesterday and has apparently qualified.

That would be a good get if true. I don't think he is going to be anything special as a freshman, but Ford needs bigs for depth.

Yeah, I don't think he will be a difference make until maybe the end of the year if he qualifies. OSU's biggest mistake was running off Thomas, because atleast, even if you absolutely hate his style of play, he can give you depth and scoring. Shaw couldn't score in high school and if he's not able to defend, rebound, or block shots from day one, he's a liability.

Ford said in an article a while back that Shaw would likely redshirt, but I'm guessing that might change since they won't have Karron Johnson in the mix.

Yeah I agree. I doubt he redshirts. It would have been huge for you guys to get Matt Pilgrim, but it looks like he is going to Memphis.

Its not known whether he was just in town visiting players or if he qualified. He needs to add some good weight and some strength. I think he will still redshirt.

to be honest MVPx2, I don't think Ford is interested in playing more than two posts players, period. He's got Moses as his starter and Walker as a backup.

Why? He must be pretty awful then. Besides Moses and Walker (true frosh) you have no one that can play the low post (unless you want to count akol lol lol). I bet the kid plays if he makes it.

I disagree. Last year they had three: brown, moses, kirkland. I think they need three. Maybe Akol will be the third guy?

Akol has been in the strength program for a year and has a year of D-1 coaching. He may get Kirklands minutes. Ford did keep Akol over Kirkland.

They had three, but not all three played significant minutes. Kirland got minutes early, but gave way to Brown down the stretch. You're right in they will need three, but only because they will have foul trouble, not in terms of having three post in a game rotation. Also you have to throw franklin in there. He'll play some 5.

Kirkland was also a thug with one year left....

haha so true. What were you thinking, Roger? Shoulda been a Sooner.

Roger's going to play a lot this year as a back up this year and start for his remaining years. Not a bad gig.

I don't see Franklin playing much 5. I see that spot being occupied by Moses, Walker, and Shaw if he did indeed qualify. I see Franklin as more of a 4 in this system, and think he will be used in the same manner as Obi last year. He isn't as strong offensively, but he will be a better rebounder/defender.

I am most interested in the starting PG competition. All 3 guys bring something different to the table, it will be interesting to see who Ford gives the minutes to.

Kirkland had two years left. Either way he's gone. Word on the street is that Walker is doing really well and should get more minutes than Brown or Kirkland last year.

Dowell has been the best PG so far. Penn has been hurt, Gulley seems to be a lot like a young T. Harris.

Franklin will play. Good defender, doesn't have the outside shot that Obi does. Gets a lot of loose balls.

Based strictly off pick up games.
PG - Dowell
SG - Obi gets the nod
SG - Anderson
PF - Moses
C - Walker

with Page, Franklin, Sid, Gulley and Akol getting minutes. Waiting anxiously to see what Pilgrim does.

Looks like Matt Pilgrim is headed to OSU according to Kentucky radio and a post on the main board. He should help a ton, if true.

Link? That would be huge for Oklahoma State. That changes their fortunes quite a bit.

Good news if true, it'll be nice to have another D1 player with legit 6'7", 6'8" size. Though it's hard to get TOO amped up about a guy who averaged 8 or 9 points a game at Hampton.

Shining scouting reports by UK die hards or not.
