Osu

I had Oregon in every single one of my brackets. In fact, I have them beating St. Louis in most. This was an easy pick. I said weeks ago that OSU would be an easy out because the refs wouldn't bail them out on a national stage. Also, the *****ing and moaning about the draw showed that they were way too hung up on that. I feel the same way about UNC tomorrow, except I don't think Villanova's any good.

I sure don't agree with this. Altman is a dang good coach. He took KSU to the tourney and did the same at Creighton a number of times. KSU fans wish they had him instead of Asbury and Wooldridge I can promise you that. His biggest mistake was following Lon at KSU because he didn't meet up to all that Lon does off the court and on, but he's a fantastic coach.

I watched him the whole time at KSU and he regularly got worked by the better coaches in the league. If not he would still be at KSU.

Half the country picked Oregon to win. It wasn't that much of shock. We played like sh"t no doubt. Classic example of winning is on the players, losing is on the coach. Why fire a guy after finishing in the top 25? Might just be me, but Ford was challenged at the beginning of the year to succeed and he did, thus not getting fired.

I hope Travis stays at OSU for a looooong time.

Where is that aggie stout guy???? He should be banned for trolling. The only time he comes around is to gloat, or taunt. As most cowards do, he disappears at moments like this.......

Not to get off on another terribly long tangent here but mind explaining that reasoning to me? I know the perception is hes a terrible coach, yet there is plenty of things to disprove that way of thinking. Not a ton but being the only coach in years to win at KU seems to paint a different picture. As does a lot of things that happened this year, Fords first year, and little things such as beating a top 10 team at least once every year hes been at OSU

Ford has taken good recruits from OU (cobbins, smart, you could say Jurick). He has split with OU every year except one. So what exactly is OU gaining by Ford being at OSU. Again I understand the natural hate and when there is hate things always get magnified. It doesn't shock me that this board thinks Ford is terrible, thus him sticking around is good. Yet, I'm just not seeing that benefit to OU. I share the sentiment of Drew sticking around, he underachieves like crazy, so it makes sense big 12 schools want him around.

I'll chalk it up to our heated rivalry and things getting magnified from hate. I certainly don't expect to come here and hear fans saying what a great coach he is.

Hillbilly Ford is 43 years old and has a single ncaa victory to his credit. He's pretty much worthless. Capel was 4 times the coach.

But yeah, Ford has shown the ability to split with 5-13 OU teams. Quite impressive.

Well even the year we didn't split we beat capels best team hes ever had in the conference tourney. This year as well, so there goes your he only beats bad OU teams argument.

I thought this might get chippy. I don't want to start a pissing match but if thats where this is headed then no reason to even try to discuss.

Boca is a moron because Capel isn't a fraction of the coach that Ford is. It's comical, or moronic, to suggest such. I would guess if old man Sutton had recruited Taylor Griffin, then BG would have won Ford a number of games and new contracts like he did Capel.

I think Ford is a good coach. Their defense is not near as good as it was with Sutton, but I like what he does, and it's obvious he's a good recruiter.

I wouldn't go as far to say he is great recruiter. Hes picked up some good ones, but think of all the guys he signed in his first few years. Many were not very good. His bad recruits currently outweigh the good ones.

Really? You're touting a split this season? We keep hearing from oswho fans how much better the aggies were this year than OU -- a split ought to be the bare minimum you'd settle for, not something to brag about.

The fact is, Ford got to face three of the worst Sooner squads in a half-century, and his career record against OU stands at 6-6. That you would argue against the idea that he's underachieved -- against OU, at least -- is a more than a little mind-boggling. If ever there was a time for an oswho coach to fatten up his Bedlam win-loss record, it was 2010-2012.

Ford and the Aggies went 1-2 against BG, and their lone win was by one point on a neutral court (and oswho was a tourney team that season). There's an old saying in college hoops: It's hard to beat a team three times in one season; I'd say that oswho win qualifies as proof of that old saw.

To sum up, Ford's record against good Sooner squads is 2-3. His record against three of the worst OU teams in the past half-century was 4-3.

I'm not sure what there is to defend there.

Looking at twitter can't believe how many people picked OSU to go deep. They were talented but they weren't really all that good.

Good team to pick for a first round upset (I didn't) and zero reason to pick them to beat Saint Louis.

If you didn't want to start something you wouldn't be here. So lets not pretend that any of us are stupid.

Not sure you read my post above. I was answering bocabulls response, not pumping up that comment.

My argument isn't simply based on what Ford has done against OU. He has arguably underachieved against OU and if that is your argument for wanting Ford to stay in Stillwater then there we go someone answered my question with a valid response. That is what I curious about. Why people on here seem to be praying to allah that Ford stays in Stillwater. That is a good answer. He may not ever, no matter how good his teams are, get over that hump.

So civil discussion are not possible over here? I'm sorry GIA stout and other idiots troll over here like crazy. You can pretend all you want I'm trying to start crap.

Before Scott Drew Baylor had been to the tournament one time since 1950. I mean, he seems vaguely stupid, his teams are undisciplined, and he can't coach in-game at all, but he inherited the worst situation a coach possibly can. Their players were literally killing each other. That he somehow made that program respectable and competitive in just a few years is pretty much a miracle.

I don't think they'll ever be all that great, but they'd probably go back to the Big 12 basement with any other coach.

People don't read other teams boards unless they are looking to instigate stuff. Some are more reasonable than others and you might be reasonable (I don't pay attention) but it is odd for an OSU fan to be here.
