OU @ #1 Auburn BIG 12/SEC Challenge 1pm CST on ESPN

This game went about as expected. We weren’t going to beat this loaded team on their home court. Besides a few idiotic turnovers we didn’t play that badly.

Guess these fans have no knowledge of our record and history against the SEC in basketball.

Nor does the broadcast team. 110-49-8. 43-25-8 if you take away our history against MIZ. We will be fine.

Unfortunate. Yet another near steal by us that turned into points for them. Too bad this game got away from us. Could have easily been a 10 point loss or less.

I expect basketball iq to go way up under porter

Lol we aren’t off to a good start. We have gone from one of the lowest turnover teams to one of the worst in the country and most of them are brain dead turnovers.

Yep, final margin worse than the actual game. Just lost it mentally and didn't give the effort the last 5 minutes.

If anything, this game really exposed our weaknesses. Lack of athleticism and physicality, TOs, and rebounding. And due to the lack of athleticism and ball-handling from our guards, little penetration to get anything in the paint.

We knew all this coming in, but really gets amplified against all these top 5-10 ranked teams on our schedule.

Played pretty well at times, but disappointed in the meltdown the last 10 minutes. We weren't going to win this game regardless, but it would have been encouraging to see us play smarter/cleaner down the stretch against a high quality team.

It wouldn’t have changed the outcome today, but really hope Marvin isn’t out long. Without him, we had to give Harkless 16 minutes, and he turned them into one point with four fouls and two turnovers.

Really nice games from Goldwire and Mo. Tanner was ok, but this was a rough one for Hill. Chag had some good moments for his first game back.

Give moser time to recruit better athletes and better players. I have faith he’ll get the job done but it’s gonna take some time. Hopefully, we can find enough wins to make the dance this year.

Watching auburn and Bama home crowds just pisses me off. OU has to find a way to get people to show up and create a better home court advantage. I’ve said a million times we need a new arena, but short of that, something must be done to get people to show up.

They're obviously a very talented team, but I've rarely seen a game where everything went one team's way to that extent. Even when we were able to swipe the ball away, it went right to one of their players. When they bricked a shot, it often landed in the lap of a player who was not in a prime rebounding position. They even threw up a shot that hit the top of the backboard and even that one bounced right out to one of their players and resulted in points. And every 50/50 call, it seemed, went their way.

If we continue to rely on the three as we did today, it's going to be a painful rest of the season. We have virtually no mid-range game, and when we're shooting under 30% from deep, it's absurd to keep launching it from behind the line. They bullied us in the paint and we rarely got a call there, but there's no reason we couldn't have relied more on mid-range shots. Half our shots were from behind the line today and most days, that's going to be a formula for failure. We're just not consistent enough from out there.

We have terrible fans, or, more accurately, a very small number of devoted fans. We could transport Allen Fieldhouse into the middle of campus, and our fans still wouldn’t consistently show up. Bama is having a very disappointing season and has fallen out of the top 25. OU would be lucky to get 7,000 fans for a noncon game in that situation, even if we were playing a highly ranked team.

We were over 40 percent from three with 10 minutes left and it was a big reason we were right in the game. I think it was a necessary part of today’s game plan. We have no shot trying to beat them at the rim. And mid range is the least efficient shot in basketball. It’s ok as an occasional option and something you want in your arsenal, but shooting a bunch of 15 footers isn’t a recipe for success. I think going forward, we won’t have many games where we shoot that many threes. We won’t play many teams that make us play that style.

If I understood what Toby Rowland said, that was their first home game ever while ranked #1. If you can't fill the house then...

The mid-range is not what coaches want players to shoot. In fact they track “non-paint twos” as a negative stat.

If we were ever shooting over 40% from deep, it was for a very brief span. I was following the stats throughout (not obsessively but checking fairly frequently). and never saw us above 35%, and even that didn't last long.

If a team can take away your inside game, it's foolish to discount the mid-range, if no other reason than to keep the defense guessing.

Auburn looks (right now) to make a deep NCAA run..Only option for us is to get better.

Stop making excuses for OU fans failure to show up. There’s no defensible reason why we can’t get 10,000 people to show up for every home game and be loud.

The problem existed long before covid .
