OU better not be sitting idle

Find it amusing how tv deals can tear conferences apart when other more important factors have no significance.

Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione said that while he understood everyone wanted a sound bite to encapsulate the mood, he couldn't provide one. A few seconds later, he produced the perfect one.

"It's a little complicated right now," said Castiglione, who could find himself reporting to Slive instead of Beebe if realignment gets radical.

It's fitting that Castiglione used the phrase any Facebook member would use to describe a confusing courtship, because that's essentially what this is. Just ask Delany. "You're not trying to find somebody you're going to spend a year with," he said. "You're trying to figure out what you're going to be for the next 25 or 50 years."

Notice the jacktard Bebee wasn't quoted. IF conference re-alignment ever occurred, OU would be the #1 school the SEC tried to snag. That said, we'd have to ditch oSu, they don't fit into a super-conference format.

OSU would go wherever OU went. The state wouldn't allow OU to leave without taking OSU. Plus, OSU is a top 15 revenue school in football. Good basketball tradition, good baseball tradition, top golf school.

Wrestling would take a bit hit, though.

Have fun in C-USA with Tulsa Hohum.

Wishful thinking, at best.

Does anyone really thing that the "State" would prevent OU form doing what is best for OU? Seriously?

Yes, that's why I said it. When the Big 12 was formed, Richards threatened to cut UT and A&M funding, if they didn't take Baylor and Tech where ever they went.

Now, I don't think the state will do the same thing that Richards did, but I also think the state will get OSU to follow OU wherever they go. The state isn't going to sit by and let OSU go to a mid-major conference, and leave the state with one (athletically wise) major university and cost them money while they do so.

But, anyways, OSU is successful enough on their own merits that they'd get picked up by one of the new 'superconferences'.

Oklahoma State makes a lot of money. Conferences like that.

Ultimately these are state institutions so yes the state will have a tremendous amount of input if not the final say.

Okay, OU gets invited to SEC without oSu, who would go to CUSA. Do you REALLY think that the "STATE" would make OU go to Conference USA? No.

Or make the SEC take OSU?

Nope.

Face it, OU is fine in a conference arms race, it is the oSu's and Baylor's of the world that get jacked up. SEC would grab OU and aTm out of the B12, THAT IS PROBABLY IT!
