OU is not going to buy out Capel's contract!

My loyalty is with the Sooner basketball program, not Coach Capel, on whom the jury remains out in his fifth season.

I want the Sooners to win every single game they play, no matter who the head coach is. It's just that my faith in dwindling that we'll even get above .500 anytime soon.

I feel the same way. My loyalty is with OU basketball, not a coach.

Let's win, win, win.

I think a lot of people on this board want this team to lose so Capel will continue to look bad.

How does me saying "making the NIT would be a miracle" mean i want the team to lose? I hate seeing us lose, I hate where the program is right now. I am also not going to sit around, sing Kumbaya, and pretend like OU basketball is where it is supposed to be. Sorry if I'm too real for you but nobody can say with a straight face that they expect us to win more that 5 games in conference. That is horrible and would mean another 13 win season. If you are seriously happy about that then your expectations are way lower than they should be as a sooner fan.

Hey bub I don't like loosing either and I am not barking up the wrong tree. I am not going to take being called out and put down for what I post on here. Most of the time posters on here say I am glad I didn't go to the game or glad I didn't watch the game or glad I didn't buy season tickets. Now is that supporting the program? I would think supporting the program you would be at the games win or loose, good game or bad. Which I am at every home game. I stand the whole time and I cheer the whole time. I jump around, make fun of the other team, start chants, put newspapers in the student section, make signs, at the game 2 hours before it starts, talk to the players and some of the coaches, and my support doesn't change. I believe in this team, I believe in these coaches. The coach and players are tied to the program. Capel has said the best player can't play this year and that they will struggle early, but by January they should start to get it together. If I am mistaken it is Decemeber. Yeah some of the players aren't doing great, but they are still adjusting. I am not expecting a run at the big 12 and I have no idea what the record will be, but I am not giving up and saying I will be back next year. Even if we loose the rest of the games (which won't happen) I will be at the game standing right by the court cheering this team on and never quiting. When things get hard you see who people really are. Keep bashing what I have to say and I will keep coming back, because I am never backing down from defending this team, they are my team.

I have great admiration for students like yourself who work to promote Oklahoma basketball and make the gameday experience better. You are to be applauded for that.

Many people are unhappy with the state of and direction of the basketball program, and they are making their displeasure known by spending their dollar elsewhere. That is how they support the program. That is how people enact change they want. By agitating. Oklahoma basketball and particularly Jeff Capel are not something people are obligated to defend like they are a family member or something. I admit I find it strange that people feel otherwise, but that's fine. There are many things people find strange about me.

I do encourage more people to use the term "bub," though.

40 cal where you went off the tracks is when you started personally insulting me for what I had to say. That is the only part of what you said that I pointed out as absurd. I respect what you have to say, and would request that you provide me the same courtesy.

Actually, very few posters say anything of the kind. A few do, perhaps, but hardly the majority. Many of us (I would guess even most) are very frustrated, but few are making the kind of pronouncements you're citing.

I would bet most of us when we were students attended all the home games, was there 2 hours early, etc. The fact you are doing it as a student is nothing to brag about as I did it 20 years ago and I'm sure many other posters on here did it as well.

Now, get back to me in 20 years when you have young kids, a wife, a career and live more than 2 hours from the LNC and let me know how many times you are still getting to the game 2 hours early to conversate with the team.

I've got news for you, an 85% chance exists you won't be doing it in 20 years. This doesn't mean you like the program any less, it simply means other circumstances in life have dicated you won't be attending every basketball game. Don't worry, you won't be alone.

Now, quit patting yourself on the back and get ready for the game vs Sac State. The last thing we need is a bunch of broken arms from students patting themselves on the back. :dance005:

This, when we were undergrad students together, Big Time, Myself, and few others were at every game no matter what. I have been going to OU basketball games since before you were born 40 cal. And I have a right as an alum and doner to not support Capel if I feel he is doing a horrible job.

Nothing to add, I just wanted to make sure that some of my piss was eternally added to this colossal pissing match.:facepalm:facepalm

Mine is bigger than yours, and my daddy can beat up your dad, so nanna..nanna...nanna!!!!!!!

Am I a bigger/more important fan now?????

:facepalm:p

Max Power I am closer in age to you, then you think. Big old whatever I have no idea what I am going to be doing in 20 years, let alone tomorrow, besides going to the game. I am not patting myself on my back for what I do, just stating that I won't stop. Do a little dance thinking you made a good burn on a poster, guess you have to to do that to make you feel better about yourself, putting some one on a message board, smh, but don't break a hip old man. I do know in 20 years I won't be b****ing about or putting down a team I like or say I support or if I do start doing those things I will no longer be a fan or have anything to do with it, but that will never happen. I am excited about every game OU plays because I love OKLAHOMA BASKETBALL. I get that all you think Capel is doing a horrible job and you like as a person, but not a coach. I am just tired the every time people post on here, thats basically what you post or something negative about the team, we all get it. Also sorry I will stick with being postive.

This thread has ran its course and then some. I think the only thing that could be worse than the anti vs pro capel supporters arguments will be if we continually to do the bigger fan arguments. It you're posting on this board then clearly you're an OU fan. There are few of us as is we can't afford to delude our numbers with meaningless true or bigger fan arguments.
