Ou-ku

I have been pretty hard on Kornet but she came through offensively today with some big baskets. She needs to stay focused on defense as she gets lost sometimes but overall a nice game for her.

If I'm not mistaken, we had 10 TO's at the half and only had 4 the entire second half so that was a huge improvement over the first 20 minutes.

Gotta give it up to Aaryn. She struggled the first half and only managed 2 points but finished the game with 19. You can never count that girl out!

Memo to Sherri...can we just agree right now we will never see a zone defense the rest of this year?

Thanks!

Even without the zone, we didn't stop the three.

Washington 81 Stanford 73 1:32 left

Baylor leads OSU by14.

I told my wife if we ever play zone again I am going to change the channel till we get out of it.

Washington had an eleven point lead with 56 seconds left, but it eroded to only three with four seconds left. The Huskies hit two free throws with four seconds left to get to the final margin.

I couldn't listen or watch the game, but nice to see Kornet have a game she deserves. Morgan is really bringing it for the last leg of the season. I still say this team can finish with 20 wins and should nail their 15th straight invite. Looks like Nicole did a nice job of holding on to rebounds today and gave Gardner fits. I hope Sherri learned her lesson and stays out of the zone, we need to stay manned up and finish this thing out. Now lets play solid and take care of the Mountaineers and rock on!!!!!

Did Kellogg dress out today? I watched the game on ESPN3 and she never got into the game. I wander if she is sick? Gibbs played a short while.

Interesting. KU did beat Baylor in Lawrence.

Griffin dominated Gardner according to our announcers. Griffin had eleven rebounds. She was only 3 of 10 from the field, but 4 of 4 from the line.

Big game from Kornet helped. Her first half was essential with Vegas having her worst half ever (according to Sherri---couldn't shoot, couldn't dribble).

Sherri said Hook was MVP.

We outrebounded KU by eight.

Well I had the KU homers and they did give Nicole praise. I thought she played very well against a tough opponent. Who wouldn't like to have Gardner? I remember seeing her as a freshman and being very impressed.

It was good to go into there and get a win. We've had tough games there lately including a loss last year. It sure helped not having to deal with hose two guards and Davis at center.

We got a lot of help from Edwards, Carter and Kornet in the first half when we got very little from our veteran trio of Campbell, Ellenberg and Griffin (Although she rebounded well). Liked the one she grabbed with one hand.

I finally got to see the game on replay on ESPN 3. With the exception of not guarding the 3 very well today, a really nice game by the Sooners. Only 4 turnovers the second half. Morgan really came to play today and Kornet was really good. She was set and made some really good shots today.

We win on the road against a team that beat Baylor, and this thread is pretty lonesome. I'm reminded of the old joke about the shortest book, xxxxxxx war heroes ( I don't want to insult a wonderful country). Apparently, it is now the list of those who show up to celebrate a victory.

That could be because most everyone expected us to beat KU so it wasn't a surprise that we did.

I post no matter what the outcome.

I posted that I was happy to see Kornet score some baskets.

I thought Morgan and Sharane had solid games. Griffin too. We got some good boards, although it was tough. Ellenberg came alive a bit in the second half.

Relatively balanced, worklman like game.I thought our zone sucked, as it always does and that the girls played well in man. Kornet busted defensively a lot. We were a bit sporadic, but nothing to complain about.

I think we can play better, we all know we can play worse.

This was a game, as Norm, pointed out that we should have won, we were projected to win, and we did win. You don't see a ton of posts for any sports team that goes out and does what it's supposed to do.

I'm proud of the girls. I really hope, for them more than anyone else, that they can string together the last few games with the levelof play than can achieve and have been able to sometimes this year. Win a few more, get in the tournament and see what happens.

Build for next year. I love that there is no quit in Morgan and Sharane.

And, Syb, please don't act like beating Kansas at their place, is something ultra special. They happened to pull an upset of Baylor, which is amazing, but also pure luck that happens about once every 1,000 games.

It was a good win but it doesn't deserve a 72-point, bold headline.

It's always blind luck when Baylor is beaten. OK.

If you took the time to look at what happened in that game, the fouls were about even---unlike in Norman. But, Gardner destroyed Baylor inside, fouling out Azibuke and getting four on Davis. I think each had five points. Gardner, who Griffin held in check, had 28 on 12 of 21. She was outscored by Sims who had 31, but took 37 shot to do it.

KU just flat took it to Baylor in the middle, but the officials didn't keep them from doing it either.

We beat a good team at their house. That isn't easy to do in the Big Twelve, and we have now won three on the road which kind of helps overcome the two losses at home a bit. Iowa State got hot, their last hot game. Baylor---wonder what might have happened if the officials hadn't decided to make their appearance?
