OU Ladies vs. Bevo Girls

Just curious, and not being negative to anyone here, but when OU women play it appears from posts here that they always get a lot of bad calls and no mention of the other teams ever getting bad calls; are there people on here who believe that? Even sometimes it seems from reading on here, the calls result in the opposing team wins.

It seems weird to me. And it doesn't seem to matter if OU is playing at home or here.

Not all foul calls have been bad, and it has been turnovers that have been our biggest issue, but the blonde headed male official has had it out for Ana all year. Not sure what the issue is, but you saw a perfect example just a moment ago when the questionable foul was called on Ana when the Texas player hit her from behind, both fell, he called it on Ana. He has called an amazing number of fouls on Ana all year. Probably 100% more than any other official based on minutes he has called.

I track that stat and you know when the game starts which way most close calls by some officials will go involving certain players.

2 close ups of Maddie in last 5 minutes and it looks like her eyes are filled with tears.

What a Sooner. Bleeds crimson and cream. Bless that girl.

Maddie and Vivi gave it their all. Not everything Vivi did involved good judgement. But, she tried. Maddie was the only person we had who played defense all night. Six steals. I think they missed a couple. At the half, they credited her with zero rebounds, but she had a put back which kind of requires a board. She had at least three at the half. Good game.

Where was Gabbi---on offense or defense? It wasn't so much that they weren't giving her the shot. She wasn't working for it either. She looked for an entry pass every time. Had shots. Had a couple of sloppy passes turn into Texas points.

Points off turnover: Texas 22 OU 9 There is your game. They must have had twenty second chance points. At least three threes were off of offensive boards with a kick out.

Shaina did OK for a while. But, she also was horizontal to the floor when she put up certain shots. There are other people on the break with you.

Every time they penetrated, we rotated to stop it. Nobody was covering someone else that they passed to for an easy layup---which they hit.

Good game by Texas. This may have been the best-orchestrated game I can remember Texas playing against us. They got open constantly.

I watched a couple of Texas breaks where we had some people trailing the break at jogging speed. Unacceptable transition defense.

Must play better in the tournament. This may have been one players worst game ever at OU.

Vivi definitely gave her all tonight. She looked exhausted toward the end, didn't she? I'm not sure what we will be able to do without an effective inside game next year.

Sometimes, I hate the emphasis on the inside. If it isn't open, we keep trying it. We turn it over trying to kick it back out. It only works if you know when to take it up and when to kick out, and do it.

I totally agree Vivi has to work for every inside shot she gets...on the other hand Texas gets a lot of non contested shots by post simply because of continual ball movement. Sometimes Vivi gets a good pin...but sometimes we need more movement around the rim other than just Vivi- look back at all the easy buckets under the rim Texas got tonight not counting transition!

I am hoping in the off season, at least one coach, just one, will show and teach the girls how to properly make a layup. Just this game alone, we make our layups and we win going away. After watching some high school basketball this past week, it is obvious that kids are not being taught fundamentals at all. What a shame this great game has become.

Texas does get better looks but they play a way different style. They get open looks because they play very uptempo. They want you sped up, causing turnovers, and then they want to run. Credit to them. They really sped up Shania tonight I felt like, and Gabbi was smothered.
Problem with Texas is they don't really have the shooters to convert those looks, they'll knock a few down, but can I really think of anyone I fear shooting the ball on that team?? nope. its the difference between them and UCONN.
I think that w/ Wallace out Texas is the favorite to win. And after what I saw tonight, which is again totally completely different than what everyone saw, I think we can beat them. I think out of 10 games we would would split 5 and 5 w/ them at this point in the season. I don't think they are any better than we are- They played their game, they got us going too fast- they attacked the basket- credit. credit. credit. But we were still a couple pos. away the whole game. They have a few more athletes to throw out there off the bench but I don't think their 5 is better than our 5.

Good learning game for Shania. She progresses every game. they beat her down at points tonight- they had her well scouted. But I think she grows exponentially in a short time with this one.

Im actually encouraged by this game. I saw we can definitely play w/ the best, and I maintain we are a very dangerous team right now.. Very Very Dangerous.

Good post, I agree. Playing stupid basketball is what got us beat. I really liked the way Texas passed the ball around with few dribbles. They did a nice job of spacing the floor. Talent wise, I thought we were pretty close, their speed was a definite factor, but we did play good defense, our stupid turnovers and lack of finishing at the rim just killed us.
