Memphis and their coach, Josh Pastner, is an interesting matchup. Pastner was actually my personal top choice when Kruger was hired, and I'm very happy we didn't get him. He was a young prodigy (only 37 now) with solid recruiting connections, but things have soured for him a little bit. He signed 5 top 100 recruits in 2013 and every one of them have transferred to another school. Their leading returning scorer, Mike Austin, just transferred to Virginia this summer. It turns out that 10 of his 17 recruits have transferred out, as they are rumored to have a lot of "issues" in the locker room.

They hired an assistant, Keelson Lawson, that has 4 sons who are top level recruits. Two of the sons are freshmen on this year's team and both are Top 50 recruits with good size. It's kind of a Ed Manning kind of hire for you older posters who remember Danny Manning at KU.

Josh has a good winning percentage (almost 72%), but might be in some trouble if they don't have a good season this year. It's a tough road game especially for the first game of the year when all the teams will be amped up.
