If you look at Stanford's losses, there are two patterns:
1. Stanford did not hit well from three point range. If they don't hit around forty percent, they are in trouble. If they hit around thirty percent, they lose.
2. You can beat Stanford by just outrebounding them. They only have one good rebounder, Kaylie Johnson.. She doesn't shoot much, but she shoots over fifty percent. If Stanford is even or gets beat on the boards, they struggle.
Although Stanford has four players who shoot around forty percent or better from three, they are about the same percentage from the field as a whole. It is a three or nothing. They all hit very well from the line.
I don't think that Stanford can beat a good team. I think they just play their game, and good teams may beat themselves. Yes, they beat UConn. UConn played the worst game I have seen them play, on Stanford's court. They turned around and lost to Texas as Texas controlled the boards and wouldn't let them have open threes.
But, Stanford also lost at Arizona and Oregon, both of which were pretty bad teams. They lost just by not shooting well in either game. They weren't dominated, and the opponent didn't play lights out. They were narrow losses in a nondescript game.
If we could keep Kay Kay on the floor and get Kaylie Johnson in foul trouble, this would be easy.
