OU still in play for Trae Young as he explodes nationally

Duke hasn't offered yet. He spoke with Ast coach. Not spoken to coach K yet.

A smart kid with a great resume from TU, OU, or OSU is going to have every bit the same shot at a job anywhere around here (midwest) as a Stanford grad with a similar resume. From my experiences anyways.

Flip the switch...if a smart kid from OU goes to the Northeast and competes with the same kid from Stanford, who has the better shot?

There are only a handful of schools in this country worth going into student debt over, whether undergrad or graduate, Stanford is in that bucket. Your biggest asset coming out of college is your network...on a national scale, Stanford trumps OU.

I agree with this in general, but you also have to live up to the standards of the school in order for that network to do you any good. So, if you're a smart kid who could be competitive in the admissions process at Stanford without athletics, then absolutely go for it and take advantage.

Regardless, I'm delving way too far into hypotheticals. I just think the calculus for choosing a school is not even close to the same when your'e talking about high level athletes and random kids who are just going to be students.

Define living up? I know quite a few people who probably don't live up to their academic institution's pedigree but still manage to land high-quality positions, due to their network.

Not the grades you make, but the hands you shake.

It's not even just the hands you shake camp. The biggest beneficiaries of an Ivy league or Stanford/Duke/etc degree are the mediocre students.

They get elevated for the rest of their life due to the school on their resume. Anybody who thinks having somebody on your team with Stanford, etc on their resume doesn't massively improve your ability to get business done, well, they haven't swam in the deep end.

I've been watching highlights all morning and this kid can STROKE my goodness... he doesn't seem overly athletic and not real big. Hopefully that helps keep some of these blue bloods at a bit of a distance!

Anyone know what kind of ball handler he is? Passing? Court vision? Defense? every video I saw was just him launching 3s

I agree with the bolded part. The second sentence of the last paragraph, no. But regardless, we're not talking about mediocre (at Stanford) students, we're talking about the bottom of the barrel at Stanford, which is a different animal.
