Texas conference statistics

The Longhorns have nobody averaging ten points per game in conference play. Their top two scorers in conference play, Sanders and McCarty, are averaging 8.0 and 7.1, respectively. Their field goal percentages are 31.7 and 31.4%, respectively. Their three-point shooting are 28.0 and 26.1%, respectively.

If you exclude Enempkali, their leaders in minutes played with ppg and rpg are:

30.7 Sanders 8.0/2.9
26.6 Davenport 5.9/4.3
25.7 Lang 6.6/5.9
24.3 McCarty 7.1/2.6
17.1 Henderson 2.6/1.0
13.3 Atkins 4.0/0.3
12.3 Rodrigo 2.7/1.7
11.9 Jones 7.0/2.4
11.1 Imani-Stafford 5.6/4.1
10.0 Taylor 3.0/2.8

In conference play, if you look at the rest of the team, other than Enempkali, they average 49.5 ppg and 31.5 rpg. Somewhere, they have to come up with a scoring punch that they have not yet shown. We have heard how much potential some of these players have. Somebody is going to have to step up and deliver. Enempkali, Imani-Stafford, and Lang did have 31 blocks between them, 12 due to Nneka. The rest of the team has two.

Starters are likely to be Lang (6-5), Davenport (5-7), Sanders (5-11), Rodrigo (5-8), and Henderson (5-4). They hope that Rodrigo, who is 3 of 6 from three can help the outside shot. With the exception of Lang, that's a small lineup. Stafford (6-7) and Jones (5-11) are on the bench.

Enempkali and Henderson are the only seniors. Davenport, Rodrigo, Sanders, and Imani-Stafford are juniors. Lang, Taylor, and Jones are sophomores. McCarty and Atkins are freshmen.

I'm just not sure where the scoring will come from.

Good analysis. I looked at some quotes on the Iowa St game. Did not look at the stats or play-by-play and they did score 57 pts without Nneke. It also appears they had a good first half and then fouls affected them in the second half. I just think that if you lose someone then the stats should change because some people are going to get more playing time and some people will get more shots. Now, will they change enough? Will they be as good as they were with Nneke? Doubtful, but Tx only lost to Iowa St. by one and did get to put up a last shot for the win. Aston seems to be a good coach and they have some talent. I believe we can beat them but any game we know can be lost.

As far as Texas, what is their future for the year? They can't beat Baylor (if they have any games left with them) and hopefully, we beat them; but I could see them rallying and winning the rest of their games in regular conference play other than the ones previously mentioned.

EDIT: Checked and they have one more game with Baylor, one with OU. Oh and I realize that Syb, that you are talking about the ou-tx game. Guess I went a little further. I think the most important point is that if someone ISN'T playing then that does leave an opportunity for shots and points, blocks, rebounds, a chance to impact the game by someone else. However, will tx be as good without Nneke....not likely, but they may not be as bad as might be expected. I certainly want OU to go prepared for a fight.

Texas has road games left with:
TCU
Kansas State
Oklahoma State
Kansas
Texas Tech
West Virginia

and home games with OU and Baylor.

How much would you favor the current Texas team by in any of those games?

I just noticed that realtimerpi projects Texas to finish 5-6, with a win over OU. They project us to finish 4-7. They don't pick road teams very often.

In non-conference play, Texas averaged 75.6 ppg. In conference play, Texas has never scored more than 61. But, Texas is remarkably consistent. In conference play, Texas has scored: 60, 61, 57, 59, 55, 58, and 57 points---only a five-point spread.

Texas hit more free throws at OU than in any other game: 21.

Texas shoots only 27.6% from three.

Brooke McCarty is 4 of 6 in three point shooting against all conference teams other than OU and Iowa State. She is only 2 of 17 against OU and IS. She took a last second three against Iowa State twice, and missed.

Atkins has only played in three conference games, scoring 12 points. She hit 16 against Stanford, 14 against UCLA, and 12 against Tennessee.

After watching the game tonight, I would predict a win or loss in those Tx. games. For OU, believe we lose to two to Baylor. Now realize that is a little bit of just being a homer but we have alot of pieces that can keep us in a game...emotionally, mentally and physically. (still scared nervous about every game)

One hour. The game is being televised in Dallas on FS1 which is 652 on Uverse.

Hopefully, OU comes to play and can stay out of foul trouble. Texas seems to like to have a foul fest from which they can emerge. I guess that they thought they had the advantage with four bigs.

It is essential that we go to the defensive boards and block out. We outscored them in the paint in Norman, with Gioya and Kay Kay missing a good part of the game.

Although Lang is tall, she doesn't seem to go to the boards as much as Nneka and Imani-Stafford. She does shoot jump shots. Imani-Stafford goes inside, pretty well. But, she still is playing limited minutes thus far.

I don't know if they can contend with Gioya. Stay on the court more than nine minutes. She had eleven points in nine minutes in Norman.

I think we start a new double digit win streak, albeit a 10 or 11 point victory. I don't see the horns able to stop our penetration. I just hope it's not a 50 free throw game between the teams. Lang can't guard Kaylon, if she is on her game, could be another lay up fest for her, unless Stafford gets a lot of minutes.

Getting close to game time. Gotta get my game face on. OU has won every game I've watched this year. :)

:woot

We are shooting something like 22% right now. That's no going to continue...

I wanted this kind of game. The preseason pick on their home court, OU looking to sweep.

I love this game.
