OU shot out to an 11 point lead. It was impressive but felt fragile — we were playing at an energy level that I didn’t think we could maintain for an extended time, the 3 ball was falling, BU was missing shots that they normally make with ease.

But wow. I didn’t know that it was an impending 27-0 (and counting) Baylor run kind of fragile.

Did the Baylor women roll up their shorts? They look like track runners going down the court.

who cares if they roll up their shorts? At least it's not sagging down below their knees like some players do! They make our team looks so pathetic. Why is Scott not playing? surely she cannot be any less productive than Simpson has been thus far. I'm so over SC and her blatant favoritism!

SC said on the interview right after the game, that Mandy Simpson is the glue, the brains of this team on the floor. Or something to that affect. So, it looks like MS will be a starter and play the majority of all games until she leaves the U of O.

I Just mentioned it because I didn’t know that it was allowed and never seen it before. No big deal. Sorry to get you all riled up. lol

Twenty-nine straight points? We lost by 21.

For the most part, we just fell apart after getting a 15-4 lead. Nobody wanted to shoot. we passed up open shots. We had dumb turnovers that even junior high players wouldn't make. Horrible passes. High dribbles that they just intercepted on the way down.

Ana has become a problem. What did she do positively? She has the ability. But, her thoughts are in the twilight zone. Dumb passes. Makes plays without thinking. If she were to start thinking, we might actually have a chance in these games. She has the ability.

Madi and Mandy did play well. Madi got two completely bogus fouls called on her. Her third was a good block on an obvious charge.

Some of these "moving screens" are not being called properly. Mandy was called for one when she wasn't even setting a screen. She was trying to pass to Taylor, and the Baylor player reached around her to foul her on the pass. Instead, they called a moving screen on Mandy. BS.

We had one series that was beautiful. I think it was Landrum that put a bar arm into Ana's chest to begin a drive. Knocked Ana down. They didn't call it. Then, on the other end, they DID call Ana for a bar arm that she put on Landrum that was mostly Landrum overacting.

Horrible offciating that did hurt, not enough to mean a win. But, at some point, the officials need to recognize that Baylor does commit fouls---a lot. They are over-the-back a lot. Some of those steals have too much contact.

Gabby started out with a deer-in-the headlights game. Late, she began to play like it was a typical game. We let Baylor psych us out. Gabby passed up open shots for three, only to get blocked when she drove inside for a 15-foot two,

Shot selection killed us. We went from 3 minutes in the first quarter when we had 15. We didn't score another fifteen until about two minutes left in the third. Turnovers, bad shot selection, had players turning down open shots, leaving us having to take bad shots.

Murcer needs to be able to hit free throws.

Winners celebrate and losers make excuses and complain about the officiating.

Wow what used to be... idk if ou will ever beat Baylor in the next few years... We have some really really really slow guards on our team, crazy to believe that 5’3 Tot, could be the 2nd best guard on our team next year.

Taylor is a great shooter, but she can’t guard anyone
Tatum is ok defensively , but she can’t put the ball in the hoop
Jessi is a non factor at this time
Gabby isn’t bad, but she’s way to inconsistent and I’m not sure what she brings to the starting line up, other then ill advised shots
Madi I wouldn’t be shocked to see her leave after this season, she’s playing out of position, and hasn’t improved at all since last season, Amanda Thompson 2.0
Ana is a high volume, low percentage shooter, and she could be a go to scorer but she’s needs to be a 2nd option.

I’m not really sure what it would take to turn the program around, we are consistently in on some top 50 players but can only land one every couple of classes, losing Mulkey put us in a funk and set back our recruiting, but regardless she was over rated and shouldn’t have been offered...

Sherri recruited Andrews knowing it was a long shot for her to pick us, when other good guards were out there Kelly, Blair, Spear, Turner picked Harvard so I don’t think she would have looked at OU...

We are not strong in 2 key positions Point guard and center
A new coach couldn’t fix our team right now, Sherri needs some long athletic guards, Graduate Transfer would be the way to go headed into next season.

I hope Sherri has a decent back up plan in case we miss out on Moore in the next class, or we will end up with a unknown kid who isn’t really a big 12 level player.

This is perhaps the most disappointed I have been about OU WBB. Not because I expected to win tonight, but due to the total lack of preparation and coaching we witnessed.

1. We went through a 10 minute period where we were outscored 29 - 0. And not a single timeout was called. Not one. SC quit on the team. A coach MUST call a couple of timeouts when the team has lost all sense of intelligent play. They were totally lost out there - and the coach did absolutely nothing to help stabilize them. SC is finished.

2. SC refuses to stand up for her players. We did not lose due to officiating, but it was unusually poor - even for the Big-12. On one occasion a Baylor player went over the back of an OU player, wrapped her arm around the OU player's throat - and drug them both to the court. No foul was called. Somehow, the worst referee in America called it a tie up. That happened right in front of SC. It is inexcusable she did not confront the official - and not stop until a technical was called. SC acts like a sissy princess or something - with no commitment to her team, her players, or her school. Understand that I don't think coaches should get technicals all the time, but she started to argue the call, then just let the official scream at her, I guess about what a pitiful coach she is - or something - and then SC just walked away - apparently totally intimidated. Her player deserved more - much more - defense than that. SC has quit on her team.

3. Then after the game, all she wanted to do is gripe about her players - and brag about what a marvelous job she does in practice - and preparing them for game time. Not one word about the obvious fact that she needs to coach them better - and prepare them to play. I don't think I have ever heard a coach after such a miserable showing not take some blame for the performance of the team she is paid to prepare.

I think it would take a good coach. Since the 2002 team, how many OU players have you seen get better? I can think of two or three and I believe it was because they took the iniative. And I am not saying players shouldn't have goals and work for them, but they need encouragement and coaching. I do not dislike a player or a coach, so am not personally bashing anyone as a person. I will say I don't believe Sherri Cole is a good coach. Was she ever or was it the players around her and some of the coaches? I.have no.idea. I thought Bo might have been an asset, of course, not sure of his treatment of women. If allegations from Chicago Sky players were true, I just hope that was not something he exposed the OU players to while he was there.
And even if he did help the team, I don't know that he was a good all around coach. Something about his style bothered me but I can't say he was bad.

In other words to answer your question, I do not think there is a thing that Sherri can do to turn this around. She needs to resign and let's hope we get some young firebrand to take over and turn the program around. You don't have to have top recruits to have a decent season and make it to the round of 64, to play some solid fundamental basketball. And beating Baylor in a few years, as someone mentioned, isn't even something we should be thinking about; instead we shoud be wanting to put a team on the floor that knows the fundamentals, loves to play the game, and is competitive and does not make silly mistakes time after time. This is all on Sherri unless there is something going on that we know nothing about.

You are spot on on all 3 points.

Sherri Coale best work to date is, still getting that paycheck for little or no work perform. Say what you want about KM but she does do the coaching and gets results. Like I said before Sherri must know something on someone in order to keep her job

She might "know something", but IMHO, I believe it's more of WHO she knows. The success of the players in 2005-2007 allowed for the money floodgates to open with endowments, season ticket sales, sponsors and national coverage (games, print, etc.). It continued consistently through 2010 and has consistently dropped to basically nothing. But the money had already been made by SC and the assistants by that time...maintaining it until this day, with the add on of junior on the bench; the worst type of nepotism and enabling IMO. She was doing the same kind of coaching (or lack there-of) during the winning days along with the same lack of recruiting, player development and hiring of effective assistants/staff. Their signing of top recruits was sheer LUCK. Those players built relationships, chemistry and commitment to one another. And of course, that slowly but surely dwindled. More transfers. There were more high school AA's who wanted to follow the Paris', Olajuwon, Thomas, Robinson. They were not welcomed and went on to success with other programs; some national championships. Some on this board complained when I posted what was going on dating back to 2006, while they were winning. The demise was only a matter of time. Great leaders surround themselves with people who will help you to wipe your rear; not kiss it. My apologies for the crass visual, but the best analogy.

BEFORE the game, I heard an interview on the radio that Brian Brinkley did on Sherri.....She was talking about the Baylor girls and said" They have some big girls and their height will affect us, but there's nothing we can do about that." Uhhh yes, there is something you can do..............Recruit some big girls!!!

That's probably not going to happen for several reasons. I don't think she believes she needs size and height, believing she can "finesse" the team to some wins with a bunch of guards and small forwards. Someone should tap her on the shoulder and remind her that she is not at her alma mater or any other small NAIA or DIII school. The other reason...most athletic, top ranked post players know her record with previous post players. #nodevelopment #nocoaching

Excuse me, but am I on OU Hoops?

I see a lot of Sherri excuse makers finally realizing her failings all of a sudden.
