OU vs. Creighton

I'd like to think our defense had something to do with Creighton not playing well.

Thank you! I’m tired of hearing “Creighton is having a bad game.” They had a bad game because their players couldn’t solve OU’s defense. It’s that simple.

Where were the OU fans?
On tv it looked there wasn't a 1,000 fans in the seats.

In other news, both Notre Dame and North Texas (on the road) won tonight to continue to help our resume.

And Baylor loses at home to Stephen F Austin (who is down this year):facepalm

Meh. Our defense was good.but they missed a lot of open shots they normally make. That’s basketball though

Not sure why people whine about our offense. We scored 83 points and shot 52%. Its not perfect but it keeps getting better.

This. I avoided this thread during the game, but as I sometimes do, I came back to read it after the game. I stopped reading after a couple of pages, as easily 80% of the posts were negative during what was a terrific win for the Sooners. If memory serves, Creighton never got closer than seven points (maybe six at one point?) and for most of the game they were down double digits.

I'll never understand it.

Have to agree with the poster who mentioned how disappointed the crowd was. Not a surprise, just disappointing. I think we will/should play more games in Tulsa in future seasons, the crowd there was better than anything we see in noncon games in the LNC. To think some people are upset we scheduled so many games away from home.

Great games by Doo and RO. Good thing RO didn't take the advice of those thinking he should transfer after the Wofford game! :facepalm

Still need to take a little better care of the ball early. And hopefully this was the last game of our little free throw funk, can't afford to have James and Reynolds miss five between them.

yeah ... but ... even if I must suffer thru some horrific offense at times I will always love this defensive effort.

I'm with you on that....as long as we defend like we did tonight, I'm ok with the stretches where our offense tends to struggle. It was a good win. But I did feel like we left a lot of points on the floor with turnovers and missed chippies.....and of course I'm a bad fan for even bothering to mention that.:D

I live in Tulsa and have no problem discussing Tulsa's shortcomings, but when you compare Saturday night's crowd to tonight's crowd, they put Norman to shame.

The Wichita State game was in OKC a couple of weeks ago. T-Town came out for the Trojans of Southern California.

I was proud of the Green Country folk. That was a great crowd. We ought to play one game a year at the BOK. The Thunder gobble up the casual OU Hoops fans until conference play begins, and even then we better be really good for a solid crowd to show.

Yeah my bad.

But thunder has little to nothing to do with attendance
Wins do

Well we are 10-1 against one of the best schedules in the country and hardly anyone showed up tonight. And students make up a tiny portion of our usual crowd so I don't think classes being out are an excuse. The sad truth is that our fan support isn't close to what it should be given the quality of our program. I mean, lower level seats were available for 6 freaking bucks on StubHub!! But I will get off my soapbox, I know I'm preaching to the choir here.

it is what it is. it's been this way forever. they'll wander in when the snow falls and we're deep in conference games.

i like the away-focused schedule. don't give them any games to miss.we can hone our defensive skills under pressure and the few home games that are present maybe we'll tear up that attendance monster.

The student population at OU is so fickle. I matriculated during Sampson's prime and the students made it back over the break for the big games. I know Creighton isn't the most marquee matchup, but you could swing a dead giraffe through the old student section and not hit a soul.

Weird.

I hope the guys don't lose much sleep over it. Rowdy crowds are so much fun.

yeah. you basically need a new group every season who lives and dies by basketball attendance and makes the student attendance a huge event. absent that we suffer. and these Okie kids just don't love basketball that way like they do back east. I say more neutral and away games like they did this season and then script excitement for the few home games we do see.

I understand and share the frustration with home attendance, but I don't think the way to improve it is to have the team play most of its games on the road. In this instance, absence does not make the heart grow fonder.

Bad crowd. Good win. On to NW. Win that and maybe make a run at KU and the crowds will come. Football coming to the end of the season (hopefully with a natty) should help some too.

How many were you expecting to be there for a weeknight game one week before Christmas? I'd say five-thousand people joined me at the game. Maybe more. Just curious, how many of you were there?

Game thoughts

-Calixte’s assist/turnover is trending in wrong direction. I love what he has brought to us but wouldn’t be surprised if minutes slip.

-Kruger sat James/Reynolds at the same time for extended periods. Was he trying to force Doo to become more aggressive?

-The Freeman/Manek at the same time line-up is not good defensively.

-Love Odomes energy off the bench. Should’ve always been in that role.

-McNeace low IQ plays handling the double-team. After twice it shouldn’t have been a surprise. Have a plan. Teammates did him no favors by getting him the ball so far from hoop.

-Flagrant on McNeace is trash! I understand the concept of the new rule and enforcement but that was a basic basketball play. Use common sense.

-Couldn’t buy a call in the 2nd half.

-I love watching CJ rebound!

-Great team win.
