*** OU vs Texas A&M Game Thread***

You might want to back off a lil here. We have a chance to be good, but we are a long way from DOMINATING the League

Has anyone looked at next years big 12 teams..
KSU no pullen, no Kelly, No Judge
KU they are grasping at recruits right now. They will be good...but they won't be as good.
OSU...no post players...no chance
Bay...They can't get it done with Dunn and Jones...I doubt if they will after their gone.
Mizzou will good no doubt
Tech will suck
aTm will be right around the 4th seed as usual.
Tex will lose Hamilton and Johnson...and maybe a few others Won't be near as good as this year.
ISU will be better but not much.

So yes...do i think we can take over this league...I don't see why not. Theres not 1 team that I think is going to be unbeatable. If we can just get a PG to handle pressure against Mizzou we have a chance to be able to finish in the top 3 in the conference.

I'm fully aware of that theory, and I don't disagree with it generally. But it applies to pure shooters -- not to true freshman who haven't shown yet that they can contribute that much offensively. It's not like it was our leading scorer -- someone on whom we've depended all season -- who was struggling. Neal's not our first-, second- or third-best scoring option, not at this point in his young career. He's averaging 4.2 points a game. If it were Davis, Pledger or Fitz going 0-for, I'd say keep shooting. But not Neal. We simply can't afford to have him going 0-for-8 -- not if we want to have any shot at all at winning.

And I'm not prepared for us to throw in the towel on the season. I know we're missing the postseason again and will finish under .500. I don't care. I still want us to do whatever we have to do to win each and every game we play. I don't want our games to be reduced to glorified workouts. Neal can work on his shot in the offseason.

but the thing is, cam disappeared again and pledger was a mix of non-existent and not good. fitz didn't bring much either. at least neal was trying to help out cade. so if those other guys aren't going to contribute, i'd be fine with neal going 0-23. and by giving neal increased minutes, i don't believe it is throwing in the towel to get ready for next season. i might have believed that was the case a few weeks ago. until cam and pledger start bringing it for a full 40 minutes, more minutes for neal might be giving us a better chance to win now. i really don't know.

We need Osby bad

I think we'll miss Cade a lot because he's really the only guy trying to score from the wing. I'm not sure if we'll get enough for Osby to make up for what Cade brings us. But may be he's a 20+ points guy.

Why in the world would you think that they have passed us as a basketball school...b/c we are rebuilding? This might be the 1st year that they finish better than 4th in this conference. If Blake didn't get hurt, we win the conference a couple of years ago. aTm is just taking advantage of us rebuilding. Sorry...but if 2 of our guys returned from last years team...aTm would not be better than us and We would not have to be listening to this bandwagon nonsense.

Well...we are 0-4 vs aTm the last 2 years. And, don't look now but they have 20 wins for the seventh straight season and are getting good recruits.

The abhors play tough defense and unless jeff starts coaching some defense, we aren't going to pass aTm anytime soon.

Why is ou going to be better tha A&M next year? If Kris Middleton returns I just don't see that being the case. A&M has developed some nice freshman this year. A&M will bring in new players next season. A&M won because they had the substantially better bench. If you can't see that, I question your knowledge of basketball.

Now of Middleton leaves it is a different story but I am still not certain OU has the better team.

KSU no pullen, no Kelly, No Judge Might be right. I still like Martin as a coach, but KSU is losing a lot.
KU they are grasping at recruits right now. They will be good...but they won't be as good. Kansas will be Kansas. They aren't as good as they have been this year and are still dominating pretty much everyone else but Texas
OSU...no post players...no chance You can say the same for us. We have Fitz who is the only proven post and he's 6-6 and can't hit a lay-up half the time. Nothing else will be proven going in.
Bay...They can't get it done with Dunn and Jones...I doubt if they will after their gone. Baylor will have the athletes, they aren't well coached at all but they still win enough games to make the NIT/NCAA because they have like 2 or 3 NBA caliber players.
Mizzou will good no doubt
Tech will suck Tech could have a new coach and will have a new team. We know nothing about them.
aTm will be right around the 4th seed as usual. Which is probably better than we'll be.
Tex will lose Hamilton and Johnson...and maybe a few others Won't be near as good as this year. Texas will be Texas as long as they have Barnes. They will win around 23 or so and be 2nd or 3rd at worst.
ISU will be better but not much. They have some transfers coming in. Don't know if that means much though. They haven't been good in a long time.

Look we'll never take over the league as long as Kansas is around with Bill Self it is still their league. Texas is just keeping the seat warm this year. We still lack guards, we still lack post players. I'm way past drunk and can see we still have a long ways to go to even be average in this league. After this season is over we will win 9 or 10 games in 2 seasons in conference. That's beyond bad.

And which Jeff Capel team has been a tough defensive team that will grind out games like A&M does even. A&M is basically what we were under Kelvin right now. Nothing that special, winning close games every week in conference. But winning most of them. And they'll have a team with more talent once in a while that will blow a few teams out like we had a few years. But as long as Turgeon is there they will be tough and play defense. Something Capel doesn't care to teach.

Thats alot of if's, but the facts say we are a bad team and program right now. If Gallon, Warren and TMG all came back and changed there attitude we would be a good team. If Blake didnt go pro he would be a senior this year and be dominating. But those things didnt happen and we are left with what we have, and that is bad basketball.

You know why aTm doesn't ever have to rebuild b/c they don't do nothing but put together a decent team that has no chance of winning the big 12 or making an elite 8 appearance or beyond. If you want a team that will always be there but has no chance of winning anything...then aTm is your team.

Hasn't A&M won a 1st round tourney game several years in a row now? Honestly I would probably rather do that then go to the elite 8 and then spend the next two seasons absolutely sucking. There's something to say for consistency.

Your talking about an upgrade at PG, SG, and C. Forget about Blake, he left when he was suppose too...these other guys left after a horrible season and horrible performances just to be picked in the 2nd round or not at all.

And your right...they didn't come back...and thats why we are rebuilding this year...so why don't you just support this team that is competing every night and expect us to be better next season.

Yeah...and capel had the 2nd best team in the country..your right, losing in the 2nd round sounds much better.

So you would really rather go to an elite 8 and then suffer through two seasons at the bottom of the conference? I just can't get behind that type of thinking.

Thats probably the most ridiculous summary of next years league as I have ever seen.

You were a Sampson basher weren't you?

I said when you guys used to rip Sampson that replacing him would be tough. I knew you better be careful what you wish for.

Funny thing is, now we score less than Sampsons teams used to, and we still have multi minute scoring droughts but we lose every game now.

I would gladly trade places with aTm any day of the week, and any fan who says they wouldn't is an idiot.

20+ wins for 7 seasons in a row, 1st round wins in the NCAA tourney, top 4 finish in the conference, vs 10th place or worse finish in conference and getting beat by double digits every night. Sign me up.

Middleton averaged 7 ppg as a freshman....Clark is averaging 10. They are losing Walkup and Holmes who bring in 20ppg. They are not bringing in any impact players except for a backup PG. We are bringing in the potential juco player of the year and Osby(time will tell if he is legit). If you don't think Clark will be better, then I question your basketball IQ. I rather have Clark on my team than Middleton, especially when he's playing the 3 and not the 4.

As for Middleton, I like the kid, but you make it sound like he was great from day one...and his draft stock has declined a lot.

I want this team and Capel to succeed. I support this team by going to games when i can and following them. I grew up loving OU basketball and this is the lowest the program has been since I started following them when I was a kid.

I dont care if Adolf Rupp, Hitler or whoever is coaching this team, I just want them to win. I will still support this team no matter how bad they are but I can still make my concerns heard when I am displeased with their performance. The past two years has been hard on everyone who loves this program and has never seen the team this bad. I dont think voicing your displeasure on an internet forum is giving up on this team, I get no joy seeing us get abused almost everytime we take the floor. Like anyone I just want wins and we are not getting that.

As terrible as this team is, I can still see a ton of potential. Maybe it's because I'm a OU fan idk lol

Its better than watching a team get knocked out of the 1st and 2nd round every year. I like to see our banners with the final 4 and elite 8 hanging from our rafters. I like to pencil OUs name in the final 4 on my bracket than knowing that we aren't getting out of the 2nd round.

So, considering we have advanced to the final 4 all of 2 times in 23 years and the elite 8 2 other times in the same time period, you are ok with multiple seasons without a tourney appearance and then 1 final 4 or elite 8 every 6 years or so?

Please tell me you are either 12 or drunk or just being obstinate?
