*** OU vs Texas A&M Game Thread***

You were a Sampson basher weren't you?

I said when you guys used to rip Sampson that replacing him would be tough. I knew you better be careful what you wish for.

Funny thing is, now we score less than Sampsons teams used to, and we still have multi minute scoring droughts but we lose every game now.

I would gladly trade places with aTm any day of the week, and any fan who says they wouldn't is an idiot.

20+ wins for 7 seasons in a row, 1st round wins in the NCAA tourney, top 4 finish in the conference, vs 10th place or worse finish in conference and getting beat by double digits every night. Sign me up.

Than trade. When we are back to winning next year...don't come back. If I was naive and didn't realize that we have an extremely young team...and that young teams struggle...I would jump ship too. But I'm not and I realize it and understand what they are going thru and I see no reason why we can't be back next season.

I didn't get on here after we won 4 straight and start in on were back or anything b/c I knew that we were in for a long season...I knew it from the beginning. I didn't think we would be that good last season and especially when Warren got hurt. Next year I see a good team.

... So yes...do i think we can take over this league...I don't see why not. Theres not 1 team that I think is going to be unbeatable. If we can just get a PG to handle pressure against Mizzou we have a chance to be able to finish in the top 3 in the conference.

I want what YOU are drinking!!

So, considering we have advanced to the final 4 all of 2 times in 23 years and the elite 8 2 other times in the same time period, you are ok with multiple seasons without a tourney appearance and then 1 final 4 or elite 8 every 6 years or so?

Please tell me you are either 12 or drunk or just being obstinate?

I'm ok in understanding that sometimes when you have a great team and you lose most of the players that made you great that its not going to be all cotton candy and rainbows the following season. I've watched video on TMG, Gallon, Fitz, Pledger, and Hardrick....I saw no signs from any of them that it was going to be a good year, especially when you have to rely on Crocker to be better. And if it wasn't for these high school rankings...you all wouldn't be so high on it either....Some of you think these rankings are GOLD and these are the same people who put Harrison Barnes on the preseason 1st team aa list. Unfortunately we weren't able to bring back our 3 best players so I again realize that it was going to be another bad year. I don't expect it next year.

Our best guard this year is Cade Davis. Blair is a decent PG. If he just keeps the turnovers down he'll be just fine. Our problem is we don't have any consistent wings. Pledger is all we will have right now and he's about 12 points a game. If he's hot he can have big games. But he'll make about 35% of his 3s overall. When his 3s aren't going in he's average at best.

I just like what I see. I see young mistakes but I also see a team that fights til the end. I like having Fitz on our team. 2 more years with this kid. Same for Clark, Pledger, Blair, Neal, Washington and Newell. I watch this team but they want to win and I think that they will hit the offseason hard and work to be a good team next year. Not to mention that I am eager to have Osby and Goff on this roster.

So, how bad must it get? Is a 9-9 conference record next season OK with you? Is that good enough since you think the rest of the conference will be much worse next season?

Will an average of .500 in conference games year-in and year-out be good enough. Right now, .500 does not look that bad! (but it would be unacceptable based on the standard of excellence set over the past 30 years)

2006-07 .... 16-15 (6-10)
2007-08 ... 23-12 (9-7) .... NCAA 2nd Round
2008-09 .... 30-6 (13-3) .... NCAA Elite-8
2009-10 .... 13-18 (4-12)
2010-11 .... 12-15 (4-9)

94-66 (36-41) :woot

You keep putting up records...expecting that to change my mind.
06-07 Couldn't ask for much more...with what he was left...and it doesn't help when Keith Clark tears his ACL
07-08. Pretty good year...but again...it doesn't help when Clark tears his ACL
08-09. Great year, would have been nice if we had Clark but that falls on Clark for not being there. Could have won a few more games if it wasn't for Griffin getting a concussion. Would have won more games during the regular season and during the tournament b/c we would have gotten a 1 seed and we wouldn't have ran into UNC til the final 4.
09-10. We lost 50ppg from the previous season..but of course everyone expects us to be great instead of being realistic and realize that it wasn't going to be that good of a year. It would have been different if Pattillo would have returned but we don't always get what we want.
10-11. We returned 21ppg from a result of 3 guys who combined for 40ppg all decided to pursue a professional career. Again...even if Capel brought in Barnes and Jones...this team was going to struggle. Maybe could have gotten a few more wins but this team was going to struggle.
11-12. We are returning 53ppg. Its time to have high expectations.
