OU vs Villanova 1130am CST on CBS

Refs stole that game. It’s really hard to watch college sports with the pathetic officiating.

Tanner and hill are so anti-clutch from the FT line. Bamisile IMO may have lost the game from the 3-5 TOs he had doing absolutely nothing. Dude needs to not play. I think were just an okay team. This year will be a 50/50 if we make the tourney

Disappointing finish, for sure, but I'm proud of our guys' effort and performance. The officials were inept. Daniels lowered his shoulder and banged into the defender virtually every time he had the ball. He and Dixon also extended their arms frequently with no calls.

Tanner was fouled repeatedly in or near the paint; he was mugged on the play that resulted in a shot clock violation. The missed out-of-bounds call that clearly went off a Nova player was ridiculous. The no-call on Hill's bloody nose was indenfensible. Toby Rowland said the officials were reviewing that one, but I don't know how they could look at it and not call a foul.

Despite all that, we had Sherfield taking a late wide open shot to tie the game. I'm not one for moral victories, but the Sooners acquitted themselves well on national tv. Just have to keep improving.

As for Nova's current record, I will be surprised if they don't prove to be a much better team than that record would suggest. They lost to ISU by 2 in OT and at Mich State by 2.

Agreed on Bam....he is an absolute liability right now. And we gagged on FTs down the stretch no doubt, but I like that we competed and could've/should've won. At some point, the execution against quality competition at the end of games has got to get better. I think we are a tournament team right now, but that comes with the caveat of at least being able to close out some games in our conference. We had some calls/noncalls go against us today, but we still pissed away a golden opportunity.

I mean, it’s basketball. I know you win some lose some. Unfortunately, it’s getting old watching our team fold so many times late in games, especially against teams that…aren’t top 20 caliber. Completely frustrating.

On another note, Joe bam has been completely worthless. What’s his deal?

That wasn’t a flagrant foul. The guy jumped for a rebound, landed, and his arm incidentally hit Hill. He didn’t do anything reckless with his arm or throw an elbow. I don’t get the sense Hill or Moser or anyone on our team thought it was a flagrant foul. Sometimes guys are going to bump into each other in basketball.

The missed out of bounds call was bad, and I think there were a couple other debatable calls. But it came down to execution and FT shooting. I still don’t understand why we didn’t have it in Grant’s hands more at the end of the game. He makes such good decisions and would have gotten the ball to the right spot if they trapped him too aggressively.

Damnit.

I never would’ve thought that OU wouldn’t have a playable guard out of Noland & Bam.

Wasn't it under 2 min? Reviewable?

The ball that was clearly off a nova player was outside the 2 minute window. Tanner getting tackled wouldn’t be reviewed when the ref watched it live and refused to call a foul.

The fan turnout at the next home game will not be good…

Dont they give out flagrants like candy these days..? I know ive seen that exact call be a flagrant

Where did I say flagrant foul? It was undeniably a foul. We have seen our players whistled for similar inadvertent contact many times. I can recall one instance last season when Tanner was called (and I think it was a flagrant) on contact that was no more intentional than this instance.

I'm no rules expert, but if officials had to include intent in every foul call, we'd have many fewer whistles than we do.

A missed opportunity. You can’t miss free throws and turn the ball over down the stretch and expect to win close games against good teams.

You can debate flagrant or not but it was very clearly a foul. He intentionally grabbed tanners arm and tackled him to the ground. An easy foul call especially with the ref standing there watching. That was BS.

Despite the bad calls, this is the bigger issue that continues to rear its ugly head late in games. This is a pattern of behavior.

I’m talking about the elbow to Hill.

If you can find video and share it, I’d love to see it because I can’t recall a play exactly like that even being called flagrant.
