OU vs Villanova 1130am CST on CBS

Despite the bad calls, this is the bigger issue that continues to rear its ugly head late in games. This is a pattern of behavior.

Yup. They were much better last weekend and I hoped that was the start of a trend, but we clearly couldn’t carry that over to a road game against a good team in a hostile environment.

We are probably NIT bound again because of Nolan and Bamisile. Both are really bad. Nolan is a 4 star bust.

It’s $2 beers and food night. I’m sure the student section will be packed

We got homered.

Illegal screen call or we go up 9!

Missed ft late obviously. Ou will be fine.

We will be fine except:

Uzan
Bamisile
Oweh
Noland

Those 4 guys combined gave us:

0 points
4 rebounds
2 assists
2 turnovers
4 fouls

In 36 minutes

Someone HAS to step up or we are in trouble coming down the stretch in the big 12. Our starting 2 has scored five points in the last four games…

I agree other than lumping Uzan in with that group because he has done some good things and provided some value to us. But you’re absolutely right that we have no chance to succeed playing without anyone who can score at the 2. That is not a position you can afford to have no offense from.

I understand, but bijan has outscored that GROUP an over the last three games. And he’s only averaging 7ppg in that stretch. Four guys just an absolute goose egg.

There are some people who think the sky is falling after any loss. Two plays or calls go differently and it's victory and everything is looking good. Good basketball teams have plenty of losses every year, 2022 national champs lost 9 games. This team may sit at 12-5 on track for a 6 seed and today's loss won't be so big.

Uh Kansas lost 6 games last season. And it’s not this one loss that is upsetting so many of us, it’s the pattern playing out over and over that concerns us, combined with getting zero contributions from an entire position group. Plus, both our losses are games we more or less gave away. As you said, everyone is going to lose some games. That’s why it is critical not to give away the games you have control of and should be able to close out.

I sure hope Noland is not in the starting lineup Tuesday. If he is, that’s a major coaching failure. You have to try someone else at this point. Someone needs to seize that spot because it is there for the taking.

100%. Start Bijan, bring Godwin and Uzan off the bench first. Then let the other three rotate until someone figures it out.

It's worth remembering that several posters were, earlier today, expressing concern that we'd get run out of the gym against Nova. I'm as disappointed as anyone that we didn't win, but it was a very tight, well-played game overall.

It's also worth noting that Noland, Oweh and Bamisile played just 19 minutes, combined, less than one percent of total game action. All three need to get better, but none were the reason we lost today (of course, what we'd like is for them each to be one of the reasons we win).

Well I think what everyone is pointing out is that, aside from this game, we will need someone else to step up if we want to make any kind of run. I also agree that we can’t afford to lose these types of games if we want to be a tournament team. The conference is going to be brutal and let’s face it, Nova was 2-6, not exactly a powerhouse.

What’s this new math?

19 minutes is 10% of the total time.

Throw in Uzan, and almost 20% of our minutes resulted in exactly ZERO an impact on the game.

I'm a little sleepy today.

I'm not inclined to include Uzan. He's contributed much more to this point in the season than the other three and as a true freshman, I don't think we could ask much more so far. And my terrible math aside, I still think those 19 minutes (just 4 for Bamisile, the worst offender in my view) were not the reason we lost.

The elbow to Hill’s nose def was not flagrant… nova guy didn’t even know hill was there…I wouldn’t have called a foul either…

Fine, as long as that kind of situation is called consistently. Which it is definitely not.

Wish I had a dollar for every post where all you experts said these guys were contributors. Every year this board is all fired up about our depth and new additions. Been around long enough to know that it is on very rare occasions that we have depth that can be counted on consistently off the bench. Heck that is true for about 98% of all college teams.

Yup. I say this every year. It’s comical when people predilection that we’ll have 10 guys so good that it’ll be tough to narrow down the rotation by conference play.

All kinds of nonsense gets posted throughout the season every year; we're all only human, after all. So what? Scroll past it. Block people. Do what you have to do.

I can assure you that the annual *****ing about people being overly optimistic early in the season is every bit as annoying as the optimistic posts.
