our next loss...

Who hires coaches then? I never said ADs make the final decision, but who does since you know? Who does the research, interviews candidates, puts the word out what the school is looking for, and speaks with the schools big wigs giving them advice? Are ADs useless in hiring coaches, why even have ADs?

Dude, you used him as an example to make that point, and I said that there are many reasons across his career why someone might pass on him. He's not a good example for your point, because across his entire body of work, like you said should be evaluated, there are multiple issues. Multiple run-ins with the law and the UK situation should be looked at, as well as his multiple success stories.

Our B.S. is stinking up this good thread. I'm sorry to have commented on your post. I'm done.

This reminds me of Remember the Titans where they were going to fire Coach Boone if he lost a game. Now the team is ready for their National Championship run after seeing this thread.

I agree with your assessment of Gillespie, he has pros and cons, and ADs look at all of it. We're on the same page. That's all I was saying was that every coach has pros and cons, and an AD considers it all, not just the excuse his last school fired him for to save money. Think about it, if Bruce Pearl sucked he'd be toast because of serious violations. Capel only has rumors of possible violations but his school may fire him due to it. Other ADs know the bottom line, winning.

Won't be tonight!!!! BOOMER!!!!!:clap:clap:woot

I think if he gets fired Jeff's coaching career is over. He'll be a front office NBA type guy.

Nick you had redeemed yourself from your idiotic past. But, this statement is ridiculous.

why is it ridiculous? i believe capel said that his career goals were in nba mgmt even back when he was taking teams to the elite 8 and was the hottest thing in coaching.

So would that make it Cam's last game too?

I think Cam and dad will be willing to give the new coach a legit shot to win them over before deciding to transfer. If you guys recall both of them didn't seem that enamored with Capel, Kline was his main recruiter and the guy who brought him to OU, the guy who knew his game more.

First, I don't have any idea what Joe is going to do. But, using the NCAA infractions as a basis only, and I mean only, works or can be used where there are infractions handed down and the head coach is proven to have knowledge. Ohio State fired Jim O'Brien and tried to get out of paying his contract on the basis of an infractions clause and ended up paying him his contractual due and millions more. Nobody tries this anymore with out a rock solid case.

Second, I don't know but it makes perfect sense to me that if Joe knew for sure what he was going to do, he would have already fired jeff, named an assistant interim coach, hired a coach and have him out recruiting.
