OU can officially close the book on that one.

@EvanDaniels: Four-star point guard Payton Pritchard has committed to Oregon, he tells Scout. Talented guard that can really shoot.

Not a surprise. In fairness, he wasn't raised in Oklahoma and this wasn't close to home. He has friends, girlfriends, and family close by. Good luck to him, but I wish he hadn't even teased us in the first place.

I hate this news, but it's better to know this now so we can focus on the ones who are left on our board....

Get Oregon on the schedule and kick their ass.

That's the only way to respond.

Too bad but he probably made the right decision. Rarely does somebody move West and head back east.

From what I understand living in Oregon is better than living in Oklahoma in every measurable way.

I live in Oklahoma, FYI.

Pritchard family didn't handle this very well. Glad Coach Kruger doesn't play those games.

They did alright. Nostalgia factored into the original decision. Totally understandable and I'm sure Kruger wished him well with no hard feelings.

I'm not saying he'll end up at OU, but unless he signs early (when would that be?), I bet there are stories of him wavering and/or he decommits before this is over.

This is 95% to do with his GF. We'll see how that works out for him.

C'est la vie. Moving on...

Not a surprise, really. I'm just glad he made his decision now so our coaches can close the book on him by signing a point guard who wants to be a Sooner.

I know you specified "moving west first", but there are more people moving from Cali to Oklahoma/Texas in the last 5-10 years than at any point in history.

Your articles are from the height of the financial crisis. California is massively more expensive because it's so desirable. Not everybody can afford it, especially during the worst recession since the great depression.

I suppose with oil below $50 if people are forced to move from Southern Hills to Owasso you would claim it's because they thought it was a better location?

Family-dad- didn't handle this very nice. Coach Kruger surely wished him well but there ARE hard feelings.

Maybe they prefer "The Patriot" Golf Club over Southern Hills? :)

OK. Didn't know you had some inside scoop. Tough decision. Kruger and OU will be fine. Does suck to lose a Steve Nash looking clone. Was really excited about him.

Like an idiot, I followed my then-girlfriend to college. It was fall 2004, and we were finished (in really dramatic, unpleasant fashion) by January 2005. I could've gone to several colleges better suited to my interests. So I feel for the young Mr. Pritchard.

The upside? The college to which I followed that girl was :OU-logo:
