Payton Pritchard commits to Oregon

Remember the lyrics in the Garth Brooks song? "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers". I'm not bitter but I'm glad the Payton Pritchard saga for OU is finally over.

honestly, congrats to him, and I'm sure ill take some crap for this but im not sure he would've been that productive. Don't get me wrong he can ball, but I see often the guys that commit and then decommit and commit somewhere else never really pan out. And if he chose Oregon solely on the fact that a girlfriend was there...then it is what it is (probably not the best move).

A teenager thinking with the wrong head, we've all been there.

His mistake was the verbal commitment but he decommitted with a lot of time for the staff to adjust , rather than stringing OU out till the fall. Good luck to him.

His girlfriend was not the only factor that led him to Oregon (rather than Oklahoma). And, there's no way one can say that it was 95% of the reason, either. LOL. Ridiculous.

It's hard to leave family, but anybody who has read the full length deconstructive articles by the seismic geologist who published the Juan de Fuca fault/subduction zone analysis, and still lives west of Interstate 5, is not playing with a full deck. Russian Roulette at its' best.

From what I understand living in Oregon is better than living in Oklahoma in every measurable way.

I live in Oklahoma, FYI.

It rains all the time. I am not sure this is necessarily an opinion everyone would have. I personally like sunshine a lot. It is nothing like Colorado where it is sunny all the time.

Ignoring the whole region debate.
1. I'm glad that Pritchard didn't waste OU's time with an official.
2. Once again, Lon's best recruiting practice is his ability to have multiple quality backup plans in recruiting. He doesn't go down the Capel path of blue chip or bust.

Coach Kruger told him Thursday night that we were pulling out and he needed to go
someplace else. His dad was enjoying the recruiting game way too much and was a
problem. Plus his aunt for some reason was telling him how he needed to stay close to
his family because she had gone to Arizona to play ball and she regretted playing far
away from her family. In other news OU is actually playing in a juco point guard from
Coffeyville whol would not mind sharing the point with Woodard for a year. But OU
feels it is down to USC and OU for the 2 Louisiana players as LSU has slow played the
kids and they have some hard feelings now. OU feels they are in good shape

Wow great insight. Very interesting about Payton's dad. Alsough wondering if LSU is too busy chasing after the 5* recruits and neglected the kids in their own backyard

Too bad but it is pretty amazing that Kruger is confident enough in the program and himself that he would actually make the decision for the kid

If Pritchard's dad is too hands-on, perhaps we're better off without him, but I sure wish he'd stuck with us.

Of course, we likely never would have gotten a look from him if it weren't for his ties to OU, so live by the father, die by the father, I guess.

Thanks for the update, ouleopard! I'm glad Coach Kruger put an end to the drama surrounding Pritchard's decision to open up his recruitment again. I wanted that kid in the worst way. But, there comes a time when you have to draw a line in the sand and be prepared to move on when things don't work out the way you had hoped.

Losing Pritchard is not a major set back by any means. His decision to go to Oregon just opens the door to someone else.

Great insight on Pritchard. Thanks for sharing. The Coffeyville PG is Darrion Strong that is visiting OU for the Akron game next weekend. Ada posted last week that his Dad played for ISU and he visits them the next weekend after his OU visit. That's our main competition for him.

Interesting that Jarreau is probably down to USC and the Sooners. He's a package deal with his teammate Brison Gresham. If we're to get those 2, will they still recruit Bolden?

This is the most logical way to winning though. Especially if Lon has an idea of a very nice but not great PG who might commit should it become known the Sooners were over and done with Pritchard. I guess we'll see.
