If from the area fine but I wouldn't pass up a superior talent just to get someone who knows the area. The right kind of guy will develop the relationships pretty quick. And they can hire assistants who have local ties.

The right coach will make an immediate impact. Many posters wanted to give Capel 5 years. The right kind of coach doesn't need nearly 5 years. I would hate to think where we would be had Capel not landed Blake.

The UK boosters gave athletic dept people hives with their complaints about BCG's style - right on the heels of him winning SEC COY. Winning wasn't enough and he couldn't cope with the PR reqt's. The UK debacle had nothing to do with his coaching abilities and UK fans know that (whether they admit it or not).

I may be wrong, but Stoops didn't recruit Texas when he was at KSU. That's why he hired BJW so early after getting the job.

They raided Oklahoma more than Texas and they made a killing on JUCO players.

He worked and fit in with the TX coaches as did Mike Stoops and Mark Mangino. Capel was a fish out of water in this region. He couldn't recruit this region once OT was flushed off the staff.

How do you know OT had nothing to do with them? I have heard the opposite. They also both signed in the early period.
