I had no idea she was going to be the scorer that she has become. She has a good all-around game. Earlier I thought Gioya have a good chance for all-conference honors. Lately Peyton has been more consistent.

When I heard that she was a great highschool scorer, I envisioned someone quite different from what she has done. When I saw her at A&M, she seemed to be trying to be that great highschool scorer at the D-1 level. Now, she has become as valuable as that great highschool scorer, but is very different. This is a complete all-around player who plays all aspects of the game with excellence. It is interesting that as her overall game has developed, her shot is becoming more consistent.

I think that she is a key ingredient in the foursome that I think will take OU to a Final Four: Peyton, Gabbi, Gioya, and Maddie. Now, suddenly, I am watching Kay Kay acting like she has learned to play the game, like she wants to join the fun. It may come more quickly than I had anticipated.

Sherri's post-game comments on Soonersports.com were very interesting. This is a team that has elements that have begun to communicate with each other like they had been playing together for some time. That is hard to beat. As they come together, they are able to utilize the various skills that they bring more effectively. Peyton may be the leader. It may end up being Gabbi.

It does make me wonder why Blair used her the way that he did.

What doesn't surprise me about Peyton,is her ability to score. Watching her last year in the red/white scrimmage in her red shirt transfer year, she was the best shooter on the team in that scrimmage. Better than Aaryn, Morgan, Gioya, etc... I knew we were going to have some one who could get the ball in the basket with confidence.

What she has surprised me with is her defense. Her knack for getting to the passing lanes and deflecting balls and making steals. She is very sneaky and has wonderful anticipation. She won't beat herself, confident from the free throw line, can hit the runner in the lane, good passer, just very good all around player. She is becoming deadly behind the arc and just as good inside. She has good basketball sense and takes what the defense gives her. She certainly should be considered for first team all Big XII with the way she is playing. I have no idea what Gary Blair was thinking, but glad she is happy in her new home.

The most interesting thing to note is that Peyton has not even scratched in the Big-12 weekly awards. Having watched her over the season that surprises me.

Of course, the weekly awards are heavily weighted to UT and Baylor. I'm not sure who selects those, but hopefully the end of season awards will be selected by other groups.

She has become not just productive, but also lots of fun to watch. She plays with a lot of energy to go with her excellent skills.

I agree with everything you said and I failed to mention that I also like her basketball IQ. She knows basketball.

That could be because she can score 18 points and you don't really notice her being that outstanding until you look at the stats at the end of the game. She certainly impacts the game but she kinda does it in a quiet manner at times.

She certainly has become solid as a rock. We should all remember, she got benched in the first five games of the season too, just like Goiya did.

Shows a remarkable resilience on her part. Wish Sharane, Goiya, Williams, and Kornet would replicate her success.

Note sure I understand that statement, Oliver. Three of the four players you cited above HAVE played great, just not as consistently so as we'd like. But neither did Peyton, until the second half of the season.

What I mean Scrybe is that we have all seen this season Sherri acting swifter to pull a player that isn't playing well or has two or three bad plays in a row.

Goiya was the first, I believe, this season to be benched (lose her statrting slot), Peyton was second, then Kay-Kay, Kornet and then Maddie has spent some pine time too. Ortiz has gotten yanked on occasion too.

Sherri rarely ever did that. The only player I remember Sherri pulling much, if at all in the previous two years was Ellenberg. She pulled her twice over her last two years for going through long patches of stinking it up. Kay-Kay probably got some of that too, I' m sure.

Sherri, probably because she has more depth, and probably because she's tired of stupid fouls and turnovers, etc. is much quicker to yank a girl off the court and leave her on the pine than she has ever been, IMO.

I think Sherri has a quicker hook for really dumb shots or really stupid turnovers, and it probably is because she has others on the bench. But, I also think that Sherri has been trying to develop a flow, and she is trying to see who fits with whom to make that flow work.

I think it is interesting who Sherri brings in against whom. The starters are always the same. The top two reserves in minutes recently:

West Virginia
---17 Manning
---11 LaNesia, Vivi

Iowa State
---22 Manning
---10 T'Ona, LaNesia

Kansas State
---15 Kornet

Baylor
---13 Derica
---11 LaNesia

TCU
---21 Manning
---13 Edwards
---11 Kornet

It is interesting that we played Manning in two running games. But, then, there was Iowa State. We played LaNesia in three games in which we needed someone to step up and score. Kornet is getting more minutes recently. But, K-State and TCU are very different types of teams. It's not that obvious to me.

I think Peyton is like Nina in the fact that she flies under the radar and packs a huge punch. Even though they play different positions, they have assumed the role of leader and provide a spark when needed. Peyton is a pure shooter and Nina is a pure rebounder which fit perfectly into the offensive scheme of each team. One thing is for sure both will be exciting to watch the next few years!!

No doubt, I love watching them both play!

Until this season very few outside of the conference have ever heard of Nina Davis.

I think those inside the conference thought she was the probable POY.

I really like the way Peyton plays the game... Glad she has come alive, between her and Carter, OU has a chance to have the best player on the floor some games, we couldn't say that earlier in the season...

Peyton because of her consistency on both ends of the floor is our best player.
