He made contact and that was an off balanced shot. Never would have made it if he didn't even try to defend.

No. contact was not made and even if so.. was not enough for a foul..

Horrible atrocious call

There was more contact on Woodard's final drive than there was on that three attempt.

I was a ref and don't think I would have called it...... I don't think. Of course I didn't have that ref's angle, but it needs to be a clear foul to make a call that decides the outcome of the game. Maybe he heard a slap but I don't think he was fouled on the way up. I thought he might have called Cousins for not letting him come down.... running under him.

Admittedly, I've never been an official, but if I were reffing that game, I wouldn't have called it for two reasons: a) minimal, if any, contact and b) Mason's ridiculous flop.

Something not mentioned yet is that play happened directly in front of Bill Self and the KU bench. I'm sure that ref had a lot of help making the call.

The ref was on the opposite side of cousins shielded from determining the contact by the ku player anyways

The flop was successful this time due to the ref making a cardinal sin and making the call when he didn't actually see the contact (especially to decide the game). The other refs had better angles and did not call it.

I need to go back and look at it but they ref with a 3-man crew. I wonder if the baseline official called it and another official reported it to the scoretable ..... pretty common. They probably surprised the refs with the play call. One was probably back on the throw-in baseline. The other 2 should have been on opposite sides of the court...... One about mid-court and the other one deeper.

You may be right on where the near official was on the shot. If he was truly screened, the other official might have whistled it. It will be interesting to re-watch it.

The officiating, while maybe not flat-out biased, was just incredibly inconsistent. And I think you can say that for the entire Big 12 season. And not just game to game, but call to call. There was a play early in the game where the white forward for KU straight up pushed Spangler in the back with two hands from one side of the lane to the other to grab an offensive rebound and get a putback. No call. And then Mason chucks up a desperation 3, and Cousins gets called for a foul for being in the same vicinity as him. Right after which, Wodard takes it coast to coast, gets fouled by a minimum of 2 different players in the lane. And there's no call. Not to mention I don't know how many times Buddy was just straight knocked to the ground on layup attempts.

I agree it was a bad call. But I can see why it was called. The foul on Lattin where KU player got a lay in was a far worse call. The shocking thing was that KU had 2 looks and probably had more contact on both of those and missed them both somehow a few seconds before the 3.

Not sure what annoyed me more, the calls or the Baby Huey calling the game with Fran Friscilla either constantly reminding us how many players KU had out or agreeing with the refs' blatant screwups. Made me want to puke. But previous poster is right, scoreboard!

We probably should have won it at the line before that when Buddy got kicked by Mickelson (he stuck his foot out intentionally) and Buddy lost possession of the ball.
