Poor Blake, dealt to DET

I can’t think of anything worse than being dealt to Detroit! :facepalm

Dont feel too sorry for him he's still fabulously rich, and you can't be he won't be in Detroit 24 hrs after the season ends as far as where he lives.

We felt sorry for him when the Clippers drafted him, and that turned out pretty well. I wouldn't be too worried for him.

Better situation for him.. east is weak and it may save some on his body. Not near as many good bigs in east. Also now Detroit has the best big man combo in league with Boogie being hurt.

You obviously haven’t spent much time in Detroit. It’s horrible place to live or visit, even for a short time.

He should have signed as a free agent with the Thunder instead of re-signing with the Clips.

I'm excited to see what SVG does with Blake and Drummond. Could see SVG terrorizing the East with them. Not saying it will work perfectly, but there's more potential here than there was in LA.

How did he not include a no trade clause in the deal he signed last Summer. From the beach to frozen Detroit, what a deal his agent got him.

Apparently he fought harder for the 5th year in the deal according to this tweet from Rachel Nichols.

And, according to this article, "The Clippers’ over-the-top presentation of their dedication to Griffin may have made the absence of a no-trade clause look like an unimportant risk at the time."

However, as Nichols said in the tweet above, "...don't expect other players to make that same decision after watching this"

Hindsight.

Regular season lasts for 5.5 months and half of the season's games are played on the road. Over the course of the year he will spend more time outside of Detroit as opposed to in it.

Two weeks in Detroit is two week too much. But Blake and his agent knew the risk of the absence of a no trade clause and gambled for the 5th year. Perhaps both will be a little wiser going forward.
