Porter to.........Villanova???

This is true.

Also, Porter was fortunate that Loyola went to the Final Four through the bracket that was busted by UMBC's upset of Virginia, the first and only win by a #16 seed over a #1. Loyola still beat who they played, but their bracket became easier due to upsets.

Yes but 2 years later Moser beat #1 seed Illinois in the 2nd round to make the sweet 16.

I don’t know who that guy is. Luckily OU pays a guy millions of dollars to find him. What I do know is that we can do better. We have done better.
You couldn’t come up with one name?

Not 1?

Just pick coach k or Roy Williams..:. Have you heard of them?

I could list 20 guys but what good is that exercise? How about fictional coaches too while we’re at it? Maybe Coach Dale at Hickory? I wonder what his buyout is?

I know one guy who is not a good fit and is not up to the job. I, like Ada and Boulder and many others here, am ready for a change.

Note: I was enthusiastic about the Moser hire until it became apparent that he’s not a good coach.

For sure, all these Moser apologists are so ****ing insufferable for wanting to talk about who might replace that sack of **** in a thread about him leaving for Villanova on an OU basketball message board.

But in all seriousness, it would be best for all if the NW job opens up. All about Wade but that won’t happen with the NC State talk, McCollum seems like an exciting hire if OU could land him.

Ok, I'm curious since you have this figured out for OU......Of the available options that OU would have a chance at hiring today, OU hands you the reins today and you can hire whoever, with the CURRENT state of OU basketball, who is your savior that comes in and rocks the SEC as it is right now? This is a guy that apparently is going to out coach all the other sub-par coaches in the SEC, with a less talented roster than at least half the league, a stadium that according to most is all but at the bottom of the SEC, no fan support and lackluster support from the Admin. Do tell.

moser was hired to rebuild the program. he has failed to do that. we're basically in the same place we were when lon retired.
i don't know who we could get right now or who would be interested in the job. no one on this board knows.
i am confident joe would have more than a few people ringing his phone....who would love to have the job.
i think it's time to give someone else the chance.
i also don't think moser is going anywhere....because no one will pay his buyout....he's not worth it.

Nobody is going to have a chance with the lack of investment the university has in the basketball program. We pay the least amount for NIL. Kept the team in an arena that is hard to get to for at least 30 years too long. In the era where paying players is legal we basically pay the bare minimum. The best option for OU is to pay as little as possible for a coach and hope a local stud will take a discount because we aren't playing enough.

moser had a chance to build something....he failed.
no one is going to throw more nil money at moser.....you would probably have to have a kentucky type budget just to get a couple more wins.

also...the arena didn't cost us a single win this year.

I would argue that arenas are almost irrelevant in the NIL era. Give the kid the money he’s asking for and a shot at the tournament. Who cares where he plays

He didn’t even need to rebuild anything. We were a team that made the tourney 8 of the previous 9 seasons. At a minimum, he should have been able to maintain things. Rebuild implies we were in shambles. We weren’t. Ideally, yes, he would have been able to get things to an even higher level, but all things considered, even slight improvement over Lon’s last few years would have had us in very solid shape.

He has done better in the past 2 seasons than Kruger did his last 5 seasons. Back to back 20 win seasons and Lon couldn’t do that without Buddy hield. You can’t say Lon did a good job the back half of his ou tenure and then also say moser is doing a bad job. There is nothing that supports your argument aside from ou being the last team in the field a couple times instead of the 1st team out.

Moser also plays a super super weak non conference. Lon was very good at scheduling a challenging non conference that would get OU to the tournament even if they didn’t win 12 or 13 games in non conference.

First of all, we would have had an excellent chance to win 20 in each of his last two seasons if not for the seasons being shortened. Second of all, Buddy Hield was a mediocre player for two seasons. It would be like crediting Porter’s success to Kobe Elvis on the roster and acting like he was a star. I LOVE Buddy, but let’s not pretend like he was a star, or even close to being a star, his first two years.

Also, we were never the last team in the field. Never especially close to it. And as to your final point, it’s like saying there is nothing that makes someone who hits .300 better than someone who hits .200 aside from one guy getting more hits than the other. Results matter. Lon made the tourney damn near all the time. Moser doesn’t. In fact, he makes it 1 out of every 7 years in his career.

Think WVU would welcome ol Bob Huggins back? Make him say he’s been to rehab and is a changed man? Feels like something they would do
