Porter to.........Villanova???

If any other schools are reading this: PM is amazing! Please don’t hire him away from us! Please! I’m begging you!
Ok, I'm curious since you have this figured out for OU......Of the available options that OU would have a chance at hiring today, OU hands you the reins today and you can hire whoever, with the CURRENT state of OU basketball, who is your savior that comes in and rocks the SEC as it is right now? This is a guy that apparently is going to out coach all the other sub-par coaches in the SEC, with a less talented roster than at least half the league, a stadium that according to most is all but at the bottom of the SEC, no fan support and lackluster support from the Admin. Do tell.

Hey guys, I found Porter’s burner account!

Not at all. I just understand and accept the current state of College and Oklahoma basketball. I'm not happy about not making the tournament the last 3 out of 4 years but I also understand what the coach at OU is up against. Watching OU games on TV makes me sick seeing a half empty stadium be considered "fan support" by some on here. Watching almost any other SEC team and seeing the stadium 3/4 full for most of them especially against rivals is all you need to know and it's not just about winning. South Carolina was the worst team in the SEC this year and their stadium was all but full and crazy when they played Ole Miss near the end of the season.

Guys on here act like it's not about money/players. Missouri went WINLESS last year, ponied up some dough, put a better roster on the court and funny enough, won 10 games in the SEC this year. They didn't fire the coach after last year's debacle, they supported the coach/program and gave it a chance to succeed.

I'm still waiting on the answer though, I'm genuinely curious.
Okay I’ll bite. How about a coach who can design and have his team execute an inbounds play. A guy who can design and get his team to DEFEND an inbounds play (I’m looking at you worst inbounds defense in the history of basketball at the end of the UK game). A coach who starts and plays the right players and makes reasonable and smart substitutions (how many freaking times have we seen Moser take a guy out of the game as soon as he starts playing well). Let’s start there. Whoever we can get that can do those things will be a HUGE upgrade.

Lolololol

The Moser apologists amaze me. We’ve seen his act for 4 years now. He’s not going to change. He’s still going to suck next year and the year after.

No apologizing for moser. Think it is time for a change. I just have concerns on who we can get and if making a change for change sake is the best.

Yikes lol

He may have, but just scoring 10 points a game his senior year does not scream I can compete against Alabama or Florida.

Tanner groves listed 6 10 240 struggled in the big 12.
Hence why we look at other numbers like PER and W/S that tell more of a story for a player's value. He was 8th in PER in all of NCAA his senior year. (6th in Win Shares)

Having a final PER of 30.6 and a career PER of 27.7 is top tier level of play.

If you are just relying on PPG to tell a story, you are doing it wrong.

Curious to see Avila's numbers from last year to this year with his change in conferences?

The question is for you. Who do YOU see as that guy? Not whoever we get....You are the current OU AD, who is that guy that's available in today's market.

I haven’t dived into all that as much as you
have. But if playing in a tougher conference would lower all stats in theory. Including defense ratings, so I am not just looking at points per game. I maybe wrong, maybe no big changes. I mean posters complained about some of guards coming from smaller schools and struggling in bigger conferences, would that not be same for a inside player moving to a bigger conference?

Fair enough, there will be some drop off...for example, let's look at Groves.

Groves before OU in green, then at OU the last 2 years.

I try to adjust the final score based on KP team efficiencies to see a comparison. Maybe I should start using SOS instead? I am not sure what to use tbh, but you see Groves, based on my adjusted numbers wasn't as far off from his transfer in. His PER went down for sure. He got pummeled when we had no guards to relieve his inside game. However, it is not as big of a drop as you may think it was, based on my scoring system...which is far from perfect.

Here ya go, Robbie Avila:

My adjusted value is KP team rank, which for his JR was 103. 100 for FR and 36 for SO. So the multiplier takes the total final score down. He was barely a .9 instead of a .95 this last year, which would have made the number 63.5

I may try working with SOS to help with this a tad.

I don’t know who that guy is. Luckily OU pays a guy millions of dollars to find him. What I do know is that we can do better. We have done better.

Crazy how much TG’s shooting worsened, especially his threes in his last season.
