Post Transfers Who is Left?

Are we even considering Anthony Livingston - 16 and 10 lefty post from Arkansas State and graduating Junior?

Very few teams have big bad bangers down low.

I mean a banger like Ryan Spangler -- not a huge guy, by any means, but not a finesse player. A tough rebounder and defender.

Lattin/McNease
Freeman/Buford

Should be fine there this year.

Sky, I know exactly what you mean. I said this on the transfer thread BigTime started in early April:

I couldn't agree more. Size (height) is not a problem. We've got that covered and then some. What we don't have is a big body, blue collar guy with a big butt who can mix it up down low and give us the rebounding and toughness that will be sorely missing with Spangler no longer around. If he can score that would be a bonus.

I'm hoping Buford will develop into the type of player who can bring some of those attributes to the table by next season. Some seem to think Doolittle might have that potential as well. I'm just not sure we can count on them at this point?

Like you, I would rather use that last ship on a graduate transfer with the bulk and size to fill a void that could cost us dearly if no one we know about now is able to fill that need.

A banger-type big creates space down low with his bulk and butt size to score and snag rebounds. Earnie Abercrombie is a good example of the type of player we're talking about. He had a career average of 8.2 rpg at only 6' 4". Spangler and Najera were taller at 6' 7" to 6' 8," but they were able to get good position inside through muscle and pure determination.

I think Buford and Doolittle have the right body type. If they work hard during the off season to gain a few pounds and increase their muscle mass, they could really help us this fall.

Still need a guy that defend the post and who can score when you dump it down to him with basic power moves. McNease, Lattin and Buford did not provide that last year...

True frosh built like a junior

He must've really grown since the last time I saw him. I can't wait to see him develop. Really good fundamentally, but just from the couple of times I've watched him, I can't imagine him having much of an impact this year.

He's built very solid. #60 something in his class & we have open minutes in the post. I bet he gets some good minutes.

Doolittle has a chance to surprise. He is very athletic and his game progressed a bunch last year.

he is a 4 star recruit and a top 70 player in the country ... hardly a "hidden gem"

I think he meant to the majority of posters on this board who don't know much about Doolittle. As you know all too well, some tend to downplay the instate players OU signs and focus more on those who go elsewhere.

I should add that Kristian made more of a splash nationally in the latter part of his senior season. As this January 16th article confirms, he had 30 points or more in four of the six games leading up to that date.

His 38 points and 15 rebounds performance against Westmoore in mid December was also note worthy. It should be noted that he is listed at 6' 8" in this article as well as in an Oklahoman article I read. I seem to remember someone saying on this board last year that he was 6' 8" and still growing.

I can't prove he's 6' 8". But if this kid with his ready-made for college body is 6'7" or taller, it's easy to believe he could help us next season.

The point being made is Doolittle was really unknown to the rest of the country (except Oklahoma) until he committed to OU. Obviously, he got the attention of some people throughout his senior year. This just once again speaks to LK and his staff and the relationships they have forged to be able to identify and mine talent before some other schools take note. They saw something in him and built ties before anyone else was involved (offered Soph year).
