Opening comment:
"Congrats to Virginia. They played better than us, were more prepared than us and played with a sense of urgency. Give them credit. I'm disappointed in us, disappointed in our effort. I didn't think we came ready to play, and it showed. We dug such a hole early that we could never get back in it. We made a couple of runs and had it to eight there to start the second half, but our carelessness with the basketball and our inability to think and to compete on the defensive end is what doomed us all afternoon."
On if there was a letdown after playing Kentucky closely yesterday:
"We lost this game yesterday. And what I mean by that is, with a young team, I think we had some guys who were satisfied yesterday that we kept it close, that we had a chance. I don't know this for a fact, but I think one of the things that happened after the game (yesterday) -- they were probably getting a lot of texts, a lot of calls saying 'Hey, you were right there, you were right there. You had a chance; six-point game down the stretch.' And then you add to that the way Virginia lost yesterday -- and our guys watched that. I've told our guys so many times about respecting our opponent. But the main thing I try to teach our guys is that the team we need to respect the most is us. And we totally disrespected us today with the way we performed. If we did have that feeling yesterday, then it's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. And we're not a dumb basketball team. We're not a team that can think that. We're not a team that can just show up and think we're going to beat somebody. I don't care who we're playing. That's not who we are. And it showed today. It showed today on national TV. Hopefully a lesson was learned and we won't have to go through that again."
