I'm not saying he made it up, but I can't see us giving Crutch's kid a scholly. Walk-on? Sure, that makes sense. Time and time again, a small handful of posters on this board prove to be more accurate than Hale. Perhaps I've missed the times when he's released big, accurate information that this board didn't already know about. It's just my opinion.

It's my opinion too and was about to post the exact same thing.

Dude is pretty darn well connected. Probably the reporter with the most access on OU's campus for football definitely, and probably for hoops as well. He's passed along a lot of good info on another board over the past several months.

hale has close to 0 basketball sources .. and is not really a great football source any more either ..

Well, I'm on the donor board at TFB and he has plenty of news about both.

Trying to compare what a reporter can release and what the average person can post on a message board, is a failed proposition. Hale can't just post everything he knows.

I've always been a "wait and see" type of guy. And that approach has been more than re-affirmed after the last several seasons. Speculation and hype are par for the course in the offseason. It sounds as if the talent will be noticeably better next year, but I will exercise caution before I get my hopes up.

He's only been on the TFB for a short time so give it time and you will see his info is not that good.

He and that Brandon Drumm dude are a perfect match. Together they make a complete tool belt. :ez-laugh:

Lazenby is transferring.
Crutchfield interviewed for head coach at Montana State recently.

Reaves is a very good shooter and knows how to play the game. He will help us for sure.

What are you hearing about Merritt? He basically didnt play this year and nothing has come up with him. I know he has a family issue too with his dad. Is he coming? What do they expect from him? His juco team had about 6 D1 players on it, including one of the better players available in Sy....

Do you know anything on that front?

He writes a lot of words, but it's mostly opinion and history. It's rarely ever breaking news. There are several posters on this board that may be "less connected," but they post better information. At the end of the day, that's all I care about.

This is not true and hasn’t been true in years. James Hale is a Giant douche and his sources have mostly dried up.

He fishes a lot. I’m not saying he lurks on insider boards fishing for content, but I’m not NOT saying that either.

He’s terrible.

Wow! Great read with tons of content about the current players and the newcomers we’ll see next season. Bob Przybylo is one of the best around when it comes to covering OU basketball!

I can’t overlook the seniors on this team. To a man, their words of praise for the university, our basketball program and Sooner fans was so special I couldn’t help but regret that I didn’t always support them the way a good fan should.

Let me be clear... I have no conclusion. I took games against high majors, ranked teams, and in their NCAA Tournament game and posted the numbers. Thats all I did. Those numbers are iffy to me, but that certainly doesn't mean that after a redshirt year, and on a different team, in a different situation, etc that he doesn't average 15ppg for all I know.

You cherry-picked stats to fit your narrative. You ignored facts like his overall shooting percentage throughout the yeat, ignored the fact that it was higher as a sophomore than even Hield's was as a junior, ignored that he was playing behind an NBA guy & a shooting specialist, and ignored the fact that he shot and scored better than James at the same age.

It's also irrelevant that he'll be a 4th year junior next season. If he's coming off the bench next season, it's bc of how good Harmon, JB, & Williams are, not bc he can't play at this level.

I haven't heard anything about him. Kruger did mention him last night on Sports Radio as one of the newcomers. I assume that means he is still coming.

He also said nothing in the works about signing anybody or getting a grad transfer. I personally think they will always look at grad and non grad transfers with a spot open. There are so many of them but the recruitment of them is difficult. Everybody wants them. The big boys get a defection and all of a sudden guys who they wouldn't take normally are offered.
