Prediction for Trae Young Thread

I'm predicting OSU.

The more I hear the more I think he needs OU. I think he would struggle with the coaching style of Self or Underwood.

I can see this. Lon seems to not get in anyone's face for freelancing, which is what Trae might want to do at the next level.

Kansas. And why not?

Better basketball program
Better basketball coaches
Better basketball atmosphere
Better basketball fans
Top 5 team nationally pretty much every year

Why wouldn't I go to Kansas? Unless I was just a huge OU fan or wanted to be "the man".

If that's what is most important to you, then you are right. But why didn't he pick Kentucky then?? He would have had a MUCH better chance to reach the final four there that at KU. Self has made 2 FF's in his 13 years there...1 more than Kruger who has been at OU 6 years.

There are a lot of advantages for him to stay and go to OU. He will play a much more important role at OU..which would better prepare him for the NBA...argue that all you want. Plus, playing in front of the people you grew up with means a lot...and he will be THE MAN!

I guess we'll find out soon!

I say Kansas..if he is really that good he can be "the man" anywhere. May as well be "the man" in front of 16k people instead of 4k

I like the way you think, cvangild! A logical thinker after my own heart. That's twice in the last 24 hours we have been on the same page.

I think Trae will pick OU. Wishful thinking, perhaps, but I feel better when I try to maintain a positive attitude.

Based on his recruiting, I think there's a good possibility he wants to be "the man".

And I don't say that as a bad thing. In fact, I think that's just the type of personality this team needs.

Lots of truth here. When one guy plays "the man" it takes pressure off those around him and let's them find a comfortable niche in the shadows. Many players have an easier time out of any spotlight.

I agree 110%.

Excellent points! Trae's self confidence and personality also makes him the obvious choice to fill the role of a leader, something the team was sorely lacking this season.

Wasn't Coach Kruger suppose to do an in home last week? I never heard that it actually took place.. did it? Any news from it?

I totally agree. That's why I think Trae could make such a huge impact to this team. This team has some talented pieces to work with. We have simply lacked leadership and confidence. I believe Trae brings tons of both...which can have a huge impact on teams.

He will take the pressure off of guys like C. James and that will allow James to go back to doing what he did at the end of last season and at the beginning of this season.

I love Woodard and feel terrible for the kid with the roller coaster SR season he has went through, but I don't believe his strength is being the "leader" and getting the rest of the team to believe, etc. It's an intangible quality that a lot of people don't have. He excelled last year not having to be the focal point of the opposing team...and excelled by knocking down shots when Buddy/Isiah garnered most of the attention.

This could go either way. Part of me really feels he will pick OU, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high for a big let down. I think if he simply wanted to play for a "b-ball school", then he would have already done so. Of course, on the other end of it, if he really wanted to go to OU...wouldn't he already have made up his mind as well??

Part of me thinks that with us struggling...it may actually help us in this. Our record isn't good, but a number of our losses have been by very close margins and this team has showed in almost every game that they can play with them...but have struggled closing out games, etc. I think Trae could see himself stepping in and being that missing piece and turning this team around quickly. I think he sees how much OU needs him. And I would think it would be tough to turn your back on a bunch of people that you are very close to in the program when it's obvious they need you.

Who know's.

He was supposed to take an unofficial to KU a week ago and then canceled it correct ? That was the only glimmer I had in regards to us possibly getting him.

However it does seem like so much of it is pointing towards him choosing OU and I trust the KU people a lot more then I would OU in regards to his recruitment at this point - his family really seems to want to troll the locals.

I'll say OU but it's more hope and nervousness then anything. It's going to be really hard to imagine this team next year without him especially if we have to play him 2+ times a year.

OU. I kinda feel like he wants to be more of a super star with more control of an offense.

He'll run the show at OU as long as he wants

Rivals guy who has been following Trae's recruiting for a while now just put out his final prediction.

It is.............OU.

(Not going to give anymore information that he gave due to it being a pay site, seems to have good sources and insight though)

I just read it. Good information and I hope he's right. I'm still wondering if OSU isn't in it more than he says though. That whole "go pokes" tweet has me off balance.

That's the Minnesota site guy. What does he know?

James Hale, according to that link, made his crystal ball pick of Trae to OU. Has he ever not picked a player to choose OU? :ez-laugh:

Yeah, I don't know. But since Trae is starting to let the coaches know where he's going, we should start seeing a bunch of those Kentucky picks changing. The next couple of days are going to be pretty telling on the Crystal Ball picks I would guess.

OU and I hope it is because he knows he will be put in a position to be the best player in the country.

One thing about Lon which you can't say about Underwood, Lon treats his players really well especially during games. He gets frustrated but he never berates them. That bodes well for parents who are about to allow their son to play for someone for 4 years.

Self isn't as bad as Underwood but he's not as kind as Lon either.
