Prep Spotlight: 6A-2A state tournament Preview

If you search #okpreps on twitter you can get a ton of updates, thats how I'm keeping up with it.

Jermaine would have been a Senior for the 2006 season...which Southeast lost to Tulsa Central, so i stand by Ardmore being able to defeat either one in to win it all if they have Gresham...Ardmore lost in the first round of state that season without him...

Gresham was a freshman in 03 when they lost to John Marshall in the finals (Giddens/Liberty/Chambers) by 4 pts...

Gresham was a sophomore in 04 when they lost to Southeast by 4 (he had 17pts and 15 boards)...

Gresham was a Junior in 05 when they lost to Booker T in the Semi's (39 in the first round against John Marshall, 14 against Booker T)...

Didnt play one minute his Senior year...One can imagine the impact he would have had that season on a team that made State without him...

Ardmore didnt make it to state in 06. They had a terrible year 11-11 regular season, even with him ardmore wasnt that good in 06. Secondly They never won with him their best teams in 03 and 04 couldnt get over the hump. We can speculate all we want but he didnt play Tulsa East Central had a great season and deserved the ring in 06. And Southeast did in 04,05.

Spangler is the Real Deal i cant believe OU missed out on this kid. He has gotten so much better since the summer more explosive stronger. Has nice range, tough, just needs to work on his ball-handling.

Just got back from watching my alma mater, Victory Christian, spank Okemah 64-46.

Smallwood had 6 threes in the first half, finished 7-13 from three and 25 points.

Since I've not seen him play, I'll not call you crazy. I WILL say this though...NO ONE else recruited the kid. He committed/signed early. You said, "He has gotten so much better since the summer..." but you wanted OU to just take a flyer on him?

They may end up regretting it, but let's not act like schools were lined up for his services...

For those in the know....Any chance Stratford makes the finals in 2A??? I want to see the Qualls kid play but can't come out today or tomorrow.

Got the first one down....OT victory over Watonga

Both teams miss the front end of a one and one.

Douglass missed another FT and gets the rebound and puts in a shot.

If there is one thing about Ardmore history, it shows that they normally get beat out in the first round...we won 2 championships while i was there and i remember after we won the first game our coach was on cloud 9...

In the 2000's they went to 3 straight finals but couldnt bring home the gold ball, but those 5 instances are the only times Ardmore has made it out of the first round since the mid 80's when i first started following them...
We lost in the semis in 2000, my senior year, when we had Merrill "The Perrill" Andrews and DeShone Henderson. We were defeated by John Marshall, who I think featured five Liberty brothers and a pony-tailed dude named Eugene who played in Chuck Taylor's.

It was at the LNC, and I'll never forget it. :(

Douglass wins by 2 as Seth Heckart missed a 3 pointer as the time expired. He ended up with 32 points, but this Douglass team is too tough.

Is this final score correct: Millwood 36, Tonkawa 24?

Yea, forgot about that one...

I do stand corrected also, Ardmore did not make state in 2006...Southeast beat them by 11 in the area tourney...

It's debateable obviously, but a healthy Gresham would have made a rediculous impact...

Good debate

Ardmore loses by one.

Thanks a lot, Nino! Go get some ink for that, you moron.

Based on twitter Adrmore lead by 1 with 2 seconds or so, Edison threw a long pass and Speaks (D.C. move in) was fouled somehow. Then he hit both free throws to give Edison the 1 point win.

Edmond Memorial vs ESF tomorrow. Richardson leads ESF with 17/10.

Tulsa Union vs MWC.

6A games are apart of the night set

Hell of a game between Watonga-Stratford. Watonga slowed the tempo to start the 4th which took alot of momentum from them. Had 2 chances to win but couldn't convert. Stratford got lucky on the bank 3 to give them the lead.

Reno-Central was a barn burner. Reno was up end of 1 and Central took the lead halfway through the 2nd until 5 min left in the game. El Reno hits 2 huge 3s to tie it up at 58 and after two Central FTs. they get a 22 footer for the lead. Central was getting to the rim alot but ended up settling for a 3 which was missed. I got Reno in the matchup tomorrow against Edison. They had a tough game and showed alot of character to come back against Central.
