PG: Jordan Woodard (6'0'')
SG: Christian James (6'4'')
SF: Rashard Odomes (6'6'')
PF: Khadeem Lattin (6'9'')
C: Akolda Manyang (7'0'')

Looking good!

Don't think you can pencil in Odomes or James for starting spots next year. I expect Lattin and Woodard to retain starting spots and everything else to be wide open.

My guess for start of the season:

Woodard
James
Odomes
Buford
Lattin

I think McGusty gets a good look at a starting wing with his ability to score. I don't see Lattin and Manyang together as a starting option unless Lattin's shooting improves. The wildcard here is JUCO Darrion Strong. He is supposedly a very good scorer and worker. Might push James or Odomes for a starting spot.

Will also be interesting to see how much Freeman can develop with the extra half year practicing with the squad.

Woodard
James
Odomes
Lattin
Bolden

I would really like this lineup plus the depth

I like your lineup, but will make a couple of changes for the sake of discussion. I don't particularly like Lattin and Manyang on the floor together. They are both low post players and I'm not sure they could guard stretch 4's. I put Buford in there at the high post but that would make us small, so that's why I penciled in Odomes over James to give us more size. James and Manyang would be my first 2 subs. Also, I didn't want Strong at PG and Woodard at a wing because we would be tiny.

PG: Jordan Woodard (6'0'')
SG: Kameron McGusty (6'5")
SF: Rashard Odomes (6'6'')
PF: Dante Buford (6'7")
C: Khadeem Lattin (6'9'')

Obviously, Marques Bolden would be in there if we would sign him. Big if.

How do any of those look "good"? Looks like a long year to me

Those are some talented blokes, mate.

This year the team is led by Hield, Cousins, Spangs, etc... But they will pass that torch to Woodard, Lattin, James, etc.

The more this year plays out the more I wish Manyang redshirted. Would have been fine with Mcnease and Buford for depth. Although, I am sure they could go sign some other juco big guy next year if they want. They aren't terribly hard to find for OU.

There is a lot of talent on campus next year, but it's unproven, young talent. There were posters just before the season started saying they didn't think OU would have to take a step back next season. That is nonsense. Next year's team will be comparable to the OU teams of the past two seasons. Still good, but they won't be competing for a Big 12 Championship, or have legit FF aspirations.

He is our first big off the bench. That is crazy. Buford has been underwhelming most of the season, and McNeace is the guy most rational OU fans thought he'd be, ie, not very good right now.

Thank God Manyang is healthy and contributing at a solid rate. Otherwise, our post rotation would be in deep doo doo.

I think they have a small chance at competing for a Big 12 title but they will definitely not be as good unless someone other than Jordan Woodard turns into an All American.

Interesting that Freeman is not on anyone's list? Guess someone needs to change that, and it might as well be me.

The question I have been asking myself is how do you keep a 6' 10" PF who can post up smaller defenders, handle the ball like a wing, and knock down shots from three at nearly a 50% clip out of the starting lineup?

Answer. You don't.

Woodard
James
Lattin
Buford
Freeman

This is as good a championship shot as we're likely to ever get. You don't redshirt guys who can contribute when you have a chance at a special season like this. Neither of the next two teams are likely to be as good as this one.

I love Freeman's upside, but I find it hard to believe that he's going to jump immediately from New Zealand HS competition (which I assume is really, really bad) to a starting lineup in the Big XII. I'd expect a slower timetable.

I'll admit that putting Freeman in next year's starting lineup might be a bit of a stretch.

I'm counting on the fact that he will have a full semester plus the summer to get to know his teammates and adjust to his new environment. In watching a number of his videos the past couple of months, he appears to be a cut above the usual high school senior in his maturity and in the type of game he plays. Eric Bossi said he would be a four star, top forty to fifty player if he was coming out of a high school in the U.S. Bossi is one of the best in the business, and he is seldom wrong in his recruiting assessment.

If he's right, that would make Freeman and McGusty our two highest rated recruits in the Kruger era. I was tempted to include Kameron in my starting lineup, because I think he is very capable of starting his freshman season.

When Osby graduated and M'Baye bailed after the 2013 season I remember there being a bunch of concern as to how we would fill the gaps heading into 2014. Pledger was gone, Fitzgerald was gone, and it even felt like snagging a 10-seed had been a bit of overachieving.

Long story short, we finished the 2014 season second in the conference and got a 5-seed in the NCAA Tournament. After that, I quit worrying about what the next year would look like.

As long as Lon Kruger is manning our sideline, I like our chances with whatever rotation he concocts.

I feel Woodard and Lattin are of course obvious locks to start. I feel Strong and James will battle for another spot as either the 1 (Strong) or the 3 (James) with the odd man out being our first player off the bench. Along with those 4, I expect the rest of the rotation to include AK, Freeman, Buford, McGusty, Odomes, and McNeace in no particular order. Who starts is tough to say. I'd like to say Lattin and AK would work well together on the first unit but I have no idea. I do see Lattin's future at the 4. I do agree with Ada that Freeman's redshirt year and his size/skill combo gives him a leg up. I expect Doolittle to redshirt. Gonna to be a fun year, me thinks..
