Projected 2016-2017 Lineup

How do any of those look "good"? Looks like a long year to me

Looks like a fun and exciting year to me, but I enjoy observing the the development of talented student-athletes as they learn and grow under the tutelage of a wonderful coaching staff. So many question to be answered, and we will watch the answers unfold. This does not make for a “long season.”

1. Will the team continue to post a 3.0 GPA in the classroom?
2. Will Jordan Woodard be the next 1st team all-conference guard from OU as a senior?
3. Which sophomore player next year will blossom into a stud? (I bet one of them will.)
4. Will AK be next in a long line of JUCO players that thrives as a senior at OU?
5. How high is Khadeen Lattin’s ceiling? Will his junior season be his breakout year?
6. Is Darrion Strong the quick scoring PG some think he may be?
7. Will one of the freshmen have a stand-out freshman season?
8. Will the S&C coach successfully add bulk and strength to the young skinny post players?
9. Will some of the young players have the gym-rat dedication of Buddy/Isaiah/Ryan?
10. Is a 20-win season and a trip to the NCAAs in the cards? (Never an easy feat.)
11. Will C.J. Cole leave basketball behind as he enters medical school?
12. Will a surprise recruit/transfer be added to the following roster?

PG Woodard (I think this is a lock)
SG James/McGusty

First off the bench Strong. Another deep team with Buford, Manyang, Strong the other SG, Doolittle and McNeace all contributing. I could see Strong and or James/McGusty starting over Odomes.

this is how I feel as well ... while it will clearly be different than watching this team (and this core senior group) it will be fun to watch next year to watch the team grow ...

Interesting that Freeman is not on anyone's list? Guess someone needs to change that, and it might as well be me.

The question I have been asking myself is how do you keep a 6' 10" PF who can post up smaller defenders, handle the ball like a wing, and knock down shots from three at nearly a 50% clip out of the starting lineup?

Answer. You don't.

Woodard
James
Lattin
Buford
Freeman

I don't see us going big like that, especially with Buford struggling as he has this year, and playing exclusively at the 4.

Freeman won't start .... I don't think so anyway

It'll be interesting. Kruger's not had a guy like him at OU. I doubt anybody really knows how Freeman will get used at this point.

One thing we know for certain. We'll have four new starters next year. What we don't know is who those four will be.

Every projected lineup on this thread, including mine, is just that, a projection. There are so many unknowns possible between now and the start of the season next fall, it's fun but downright silly to predict a starting lineup at this point.

I could easily be wrong about Freeman. I threw that out to be different. As I said, I considered putting McGusty on my list. If he's the real deal, we already know LK will not hesitate to start a true freshman. The best part to me is that Coach Kruger will have plenty of options next season.

By the way, where is your list? ;)

I agree with Coach on this one. Freeman will play at the 4 or 5 position, depending on his development and the line up maybe eventually the 3 at times.

To start he would need to beat out Lattin, Manyang, Odomes and Buford. McNeace may not have all the skills sets of Freeman, but he is athletic and will be in his third year of college basketball.

Freeman could develop into a great player, but he will need some time like most freshman.

He did at UNLV and ultimately that kid developed into the #1 pick in the NBA; not saying said kid hasn't been a disappointment, but a four that can stretch a defense is basketball gold these days.

I have no idea who will start but as the poster said above, there is plenty of talent there that HCLK recruited and I'm sure can work with to put out a good team. Slight rebuild but maybe a reload if a couple of the young guys can play defense.

Thanks, Trav! I stand corrected.

LK will have to pick three from a host of worthy candidates. It won't be easy, but it's a good problem to have.

Even though you forgot about Lattin, That doesn't mean he will start next year. Woodard is the only one you can pencil in as a starter. Theres a lot of time between now and the beginning of next season. AK and Buford could move up to starters and if somehow we land Bolden, the door is wide open.'

I do feel Lattin will start but I think he's got competition.

This is as good a championship shot as we're likely to ever get. You don't redshirt guys who can contribute when you have a chance at a special season like this. Neither of the next two teams are likely to be as good as this one.

kelvin redshirted jason detrick after the final four year when we had hollis, quannas, and ebi ere coming back. make the elite 8 and no one was going to beat Syracuse that year.....except people forget, the Pokes had them down 10 or something in the first or second round.

that said, there's a lot to like about this team.

I don't think Bolden is "that type of player."

He is a really, really good player, but I don't see him elevating OU to that level next year. He isn't a one-and-done lottery guy, necessarily.
