And we totally disrespected us today with the way we performed.

In reference to not playing with effort, respecting the opponent, and being satisfied with playing Kentucky close.

I sure hope he can get this through to the players. Today was a big step back for a young team. Hope they get a lesson from it.

He said that OU lost this game yesterday after the game because they felt too good about losing.

And part of that is on him. If he senses guys thinking that then those guys need to sit on the bench and not start. We have got to get this team thinking with the right mindset. We are not a good basketball team right now and need to play focused and with great effort every night.

Yeah the way Virginia lost against Washington made it like they had something to prove and they did.

Or just chew them out on the locker room after Kentucky, I know it was refreshing to see the effort after last season but still. This is Oklahoma basketball, not OSU football where a moral victory over a ranked opponent is a good thing. If he got the feeling people weren't too disappointed with a loss and were becoming complacent just rip them a brand new one in the locker room and challenge them vs Virginia.

With all these freshmen and newcomers it's not easy to just chew them out. They actually have to learn from this process.

So we have to wait until they are juniors to jump in their ass? It's not like we are completely young. We are only playing three freshman, only two really on a consistent basis....that's not just crazy young

I understand that but at the same time we can't let them get complicate. I think (at least hope) there is enough of an "attitude" on this team that even if their coach slaps them in the mouth after a loss they respond with a chip on their shoulder and not the fetal position.

Nick, a good old fashioned butt chewin' can be part of the process. Capel should have learned last year that you can't be a buddy to everyone when tough love may be necessary to get their attention. He clearly did not have it when this game started, and it proved to be costly in the end.

I agree with BigTime, our head coach has to share some of the responsibility for this loss. It's his job to have his players ready, and he failed miserably in that department.

You can butt-chew all you like. You can yell and scream, cuss and moan, raise hell and carry on. Doesnt mean that the team will listen, mark AND inwardly digest any part of it. Remember last year's team. Does anybody actually think those dunderheads listened at all?

I'm not sure I would go there. OSU's football program is at a lot higher level than OU's basketball program right now. Seems to me lots of people here were pretty happy with yesterdays effort vs Kentucky as well.

Sam, what's got into you?

this is about mindset, not necessarily the current state of the program. Oklahoma basketball has a 30 year history of being a top 10-15 program. Moral victories are reserved for perennial cellar dwellers like say.....Kansas football.

I am never happy with a loss. Ever. Neither should the rest of the Sooner Nation.

Moral victories only matter if you follow it up with a solid performance. We followed it up with a dud.

So then why was moral victory the theme around here yesterday?
I don't think it's the time to be slamming rivals program.
OU basketball needs to get better fast.
