I think/hope that they can put together 19-23 wins next year. IMO that would be on schedule. Maybe get them in the NCAA come March..

18-19. There will still be games where they struggle & their non-conference is still tough.

Dancing and a win number over 20. Too many experienced pieces and the addition of a guy who is Blake Griffinesque in terms of talent impact. The advantage Trae has over Blake is that it's much easier for a Freshman PG to make and immediate large offensive splash in CBB than a big. Probably will still struggle in a lot of ways but will be good enough to push the team into making the dance.

not a huge fan of Joe Lunardi in general but he had OU in the 8-9 game in his way too early bracket. i would take that without complaint (i think)....and agree that would be right on schedule as inref says.

there's big reason to be optimistic but until it actually happens hard to know what to expect from a true FR.

Interestingly, I was one of the few last year that predicted we would miss the tournament prior to the season. Now it looks like I'm going to be one of the few to predict us to comfortably make the tournament next year.

Our shoddy point guard play last year really dragged us down. We should be massively upgraded at that position next year, with Trae being the best point guard recruit in school history and Jordan Shepherd with a full season under his belt and not having to be a starter. The load should be lightened for everyone, and I'm expecting 22-24 regular season wins and a finish in the top half of the conference.

PG: Trae Young (shooter)
SG: Kameron McGusty (shooter)
SF: Rashard Odomes (slasher)
PF: Kristian Doolittle (shooter)
C: Jamuni McNease/Khadeem Lattin (tall athletic guy)

Assuming Trae lives to expectations, the entire season depends on Doolittle and McNease/Lattin. If those guys can control the glass and defend the paint, OU is business.. 22-24 wins.

OU has the right combo of shooters and slashers, at least in the starting lineup. We will see how the bench forms.

If Odomes could develop a 3 pt shot that is consistent (35-38% at least), he could be a dominate player!!

McGusty is a slasher/shooter. It would also be nice to see him get his 3 pt % to at least 38-40%+.

Having guys who can be threats from outside will only help Doolittle/Lattin/McN/, etc.

I would put the over/under at 20 wins....and I would lean to the over right now.

We have a young team, and a tough schedule, so it might take some time to put it all together. At the end of the season, though, if we're not playing at the level of at least a 5 or 6 seed, I'll be very disappointed. I've got Sweet 16 on my mind.

If Young has a season similar to the freshmen of his caliber last year (Fultz, Ball, Smith Jr., Fox)...look out.

21 wins - that's assuming we get some more help via grad transfer. Really hoping Lon can find a big man who can rebound to help this team out.

If OU had a true big man, I'd say 22 or so wins. You can't expect Young to be Buddy as a freshman, and Buddy carried OU that year with no real low post threat.

Not sure where our talent is after last year. We lacked a lot at guard positions last year. And our post players were really just small forwards outside of Latin who didn't show up at times. Will Trae Young really be better than Woodard at his best? Will that be enough? I'm just not sure about the talent we've got right now. You can't win games in the NCAA if your guards are as bad as ours were last year.

If we get that kid from Rice, we may have the best guards in conference. Maybe even without him.

I had a hard time predicting last year's record because I couldn't figure out where our scoring would come from. Hadn't seen enough from James, Woodard had never done it without Buddy & Isaiah.. This year, Kam & Trae should be comfortable picks to score points for us but defense is giving me pause... So, more wins than last year.. 18-20 bubble team/NIT

I think everyone expects Trae to be better than Buddy was as a freshman, and wouldn't be surprised if he's better than Buddy was as a sophomore. Buddy took his leap in the offseason after his sophomore year.
