I've been wondering the last couple of days if:

The next two years of our recruiting is the most critical for the future of the program since the signing of the Paris twins?

Of course, recruiting every year is critical for every program.

It seems to me, however, that OU may be nearing a crossroads.

We have nice prospects coming in, but there seems to be plenty of uncertainty about how good the three soon to grace our court will be.

In 2014 we lose Aaron, Nicole, Morgan and Portia. With the exception of Portia, that's been the guts of this program for a long time.

Following the loss of Hand and Jo, and even with Maddie, Sharane and Kornet still on the rost for a couple of years, the next couple of recruiting years seems to be at the critical potential tipping point.

Adding to the situation is the lack of any seriously good recruiting news and the strong possibility we may not sign anyone this fall.

All in all, it seems to be a very highly uncertain near future for the coaches, program and players. I don't lack cofidence in the coaches recruiting ability, but then again, maybe I do a bit based upon the last couple of years (Maddie and Kornet giving solice to my concern.)

I can't think of a time since the twins where our future has been this much in flux. What do all of you think about this?

I happen to agree this is a critical year in recruiting. First, we have a huge need for bigs. I hope we only sign bigs in this class and worry about 1-3 next year.

Second, we can offer the opportunity to compete for immediate playing time.

Third, we have the facilities, tradition, conference, and good university.

I think both Oliver and Norm are correct but it is still 7 months until the fall signing period. If there is no news on commitments during the summer, I trhink it is time to start being concerned. By the way, is it this summer that Coale is off coaching some team in the international games?

We need a point guard and a true 5 with size. Sherri cold be going hard after Ortiz but if we miss out on her at point then what? Seems like we end up with a a guard with maybe 2 BCS offeres.

I believe it is, sir. I think she will be out at least part of the summer.

I can only hope we are in on some elite players we don't know about.

who do we have as point guard other then Morgan? Im guess some of you are pretty high on Edwards but she's 5'4 and I haven't heard if she was super fast witch is something she's going to need to stand out at a real BCS level.

Looks to me like Morgan is the point guard with Maddie and Edwards as possible backups.

I just don't see Maddie as a point guard, I still think well see her on the wing the next 3 years, maybe as a point-forward...

I don't either, Mac, but I know there are others who disagree with us.

Forgive me if I'm wrong - haven't seen a high school girls' basketball game in about 20 years. But isn't Gioya Carter also a point guard?

I believe it was Mystery who recently said that she will likely be a shooting guard in college. He said she is about 5'9" although we have her listed shorter than that but I certainly trust his evaluation.

If Carter is 5'9 and can play the point we will be in good hands.

I think a lot of us think she may play point because she had been playing that a lot when she was hurt.

Because of Carter and Wyatt coming in, she may not.

Given Sherri's tendencies, I think, right now, that she may be the heir apparent at point unless some one of D-Rob talent comes in.

When I saw Gioya play, she plays bigger than 5'9. I hate to compare her to other Sooners, but she actually is an improved version of Morgan. She is fluid, moves well without the ball, can play point or off guard. Very good defender. She has excellent court vision, team player deluxe and is very basketball smart. As I said in a previous post, I am really excited about her and can't wait to see her play in October at the Red/White scrimmage.

I really think the recruiting by Sherri & staff in the next 2 years is extremely important!!Sherri continually gets in on great players but does not always closed the deal, for some reason.Look at the last 5 or 6 gatorade players of the year in Oklahoma, how many has she signed??Go Sooners!!!!!!!!!

Like Stoops realizing that staff changes were needed, I hope Sherri realizes that more emphasis in recruiting is needed. I keep remembering getting the Paris twins-how quiet their recruitment was. Might as well dream of something just as good.

Sherri will sign players this fall.

OU already has one verbal from Williams.

The question really is can Sherri land 2 two top 50 players at PF/C
And one elite top 20 player regardless of position to replace
the talent lost in the senior class.
