Regress, regress

I was really shocked at how bad they looked at times last night. Being young can only take you so far..23 games in the season and little or no improvement..falls back in Lon's lap if you ask me. Not saying Lon needs to be fired, if we see the same thing next year..Lon will leave on his own.

I was critical of James a few months ago and you didn't like it. I'm going to be more critical of him. He was supposed to be one of the bellcow's and right now he's playing like a newborn calf. I'm not sure if it's between his ears or if he's just not good enough. 2 years left though and I'm about to the point that he may want to look elsewhere. Buford, too. I'm not super high on Odomes because he won't shoot the J so he's like having Doug Gottlieb on the floor when defenses sag off him.

Bottom line is James play has been a huge reason why the season has turned out this way.
 
It's pretty obvious when we lost Buddy Cousins and Spangler that we didn't just lose our best players, we also lost our leaders. Woodard might have stepped into the role, but he's struggled and been injured. Someone has to take responsibility for the team.
 
Just an awful season. Woodard wasn't up to the task of being either a leader or the best player on a team. The returning contributors (Lattin, James, Buford) didn't improve. The three freshmen have been the bright spots.

Kruger hiring his unqualified son and the team tanking is also not a good look.

I'm sorry that you believe in nepotism. I don't. Stated it when the hire was made, stating it again now. The odds that out of thousands of basketball coaches out there that Lon Kruger's son happens to be the best candidate are almost zero.

What I didn't like is that you stated that James had an attitude problem and acted like he had read too many headlines, or something to that effect. James has struggled shooting the ball. That's obvious. That wasn't your complaint and to turn around now and act like it was is wholly disingenuous. You stated that he had a bad attitude and that it was harmful to the team. I disagreed with that then. I disagree with that now.

Interestingly, when I called you on your statement, you backed off and tried to pretend that you weren't really saying he had a bad attitude.

This team has struggled in a lot of areas but I haven't caught 1 whiff of a bad attitude, players bickering with pool need another or with the coaches, or players giving less than 100% effort. If you think any of them have done any of those things, back it up. Provide some evidence. But you can't.

Anyway, continue with your "James sucks" stuff if it makes you feel warm and tingly inside. It's not at all original. Most of those here agree with you. Of course, they were also anointing him 1st team All Big 12 before the season started so take that for what it's worth.

Criticize James if it makes you feel better, but all the insight was used up 3 months ago, if there was any there to begin with.

Why do things need to be original. Streaks are a compilation of the same thing in repetitive form, be it good or bad. There are winning streaks and there are losing streaks. There are hot streaks while there are cold streaks and so on. As it relates to James, we'll let you decide which type of streak he is in, but there is no doubt he is mired in a streak. If the complete opposite were true you would see a host of positive comments all talking about hot hot he is, and how he's locked in, and how he's in the groove etc.

That's why you arent in charge, im sure you're more qualified to pick an assistant than Coach Kruger.

That's not the point, though. The hire was nepotistic and there is no denying that. His resume was not worthy of being hired to the position. Nepotism is fine at the family business but not at ou.

I trust Lon to hire the right guy. When you hire your son who does not have the credentials on paper for the position, and the subsequent season is the worst in 40 years you open yourself up to criticism. I'm pretty sure Lon can handle being criticized too.

It looks like if you put Coach in front of your name on this forum, then you apparently know more about basketball than anyone else alive. That then gives you free reign to criticize and be-little any other poster that doesn't agree with your "opinion". Let's all try it. Everyone put Coach in your user name and we can all be experts.
